Subject: Do shocks squeak?? IP: Logged
Message: A while back I had some nasty squealing, turned out to be my brake pads. that is gone. But now I notice, after I've been driving my truck a while, if I have the a/c off and radio off (so it's pretty quiet) I can hear a squeak every time I go over rough ground/hit bumps (sounds like only the passenger side). It never does it when I first drive off with a cool truck, only when I've beengoing a while.
What could this possibly be? Do shocks/springs squeak over time with wear? I am really not in the mood to replace anything right now, as I'm broke and all....but if it needs fixing it will get fixed!

Message: I had squeaks coming from the bed. I took it to the dealer (still under warrenty). They said it was the shackles. They replace the shackles, and low and behold the squeaks were gone.
Squeaky beds are usually fun but not in this instance.
Good Luck

Message: Lube up them bushings on your leafs in the rear... it'll go away, for about a month or maybe two if it's not real dry where you are

Message: You do not say if it is FRONT or REAR.
The upper ball joints on the FRONT are known to get sloppy and start to squeek (They have been know to eventually BREAK... then your front wheel almost falls off!!)
I reciently had a squeek on the passenger-front which was the upper ball joint. (only when hot!)
I replaced it with a MOOG (only type available with grease fitting)
Another cause of sqeeking in the FRONT is the anti-swaybar bushings. Some folks have pulled the bushings and lubed with silicone. Apparently, this can be done with wheels on ground (there is no preload in the anti-swaybar bushings)
