Hello
I have a question about balancing, I live in Holland, and I own a Dodge D200 crew cab pick-up truck from 1978.
The engine is a 318 (5.2L - 1978) with automatic transmission.
Now I bought a 360 (5,9L - 1976) complete with damper and flex plate on it. (so the crank,
damper and flex plate are balanced together already)

The question now is: could you tell me if the I can use the same torque converter (so the one from present 318 set-up)?
I mean does the flex plate fit the bolt holes on the converter.
And I heard that I need to add 120 grams to the converter, can you confirm that?

If not please tell me which torque converter I do need.
I don’t want to race, I just want to have a more powerful (hp an torque at low rpm) car.

Thanks very much in advance,

you can either balance the torque converter to 360 specs(mopar performance has a kit with the weight and template) or get a torque converter for a 360 that would be already balanced. now for other things you would need for the swap: if the 360 did not come from a truck you will need a 360 truck oil pan(318 oil pan wont fit the 360), and one of the motor mounts is different between the 318 and 360(i think the drivers side). other than that it should be a bolt in swap

if both engines came out of a truck, why is it that you THINK that the 318 pan wont fit a 360.

Some people just do not know what the fu-- they are talking about.
First, a early small block wheather a 360, 318, if factory installed in a truck, will have a rear sump pan. And yes they are one in the same, (sml blk trk pans) And it would be a lot less of a pain in a$$ if you went out and bought a 360 truck converter.

With the bigger 360 main bearings it requires a different oil pan.
