I am looking into buying a Power Programmer III for my 2003 R/T but I was wondering what to set the transmission shift points at? Also would changing the shift points do the same as installing a shift kit?

Did Hypertech release the Power Programmer III? I thought it wouldn't be any earlier than a month or two from now.

No changing the shift points would not do the same as installing a shift kit.

Shift kits increase tranny pressure to help with gear engagements for that tire chirp :) Helps reduce heat that causes tranny wear.

The 4800 RPM shift point on a stock 2001+ R/T is more than enough, Peak HP comes on at 4000 and dies around 4200rpms. Increase it anything past 4800 will only hurt performance, anything near 5k will only make it scream while putting down small numbers like 155hp. Unless you get 2.02 R/T heads, 262/264 512/547Lift cam, M1 intake, and much more like I have. I still run a stock PCM due to having a 2001, and custom flashing costing a butt load. Sure I can see spending that money on a custom flash for a Turbo setup, but for a N/A engine, that just shafting us, just like every other Dodge part. :( Example, 2.02 R/T non ported heads cost $1200 while you can get GM CNC PORTED HEAD THAT FLOWS WAY MORE COST ABOUT THE SAME.
