Message: Yes, aftermarket heads are made for your A-block. The amount of options you have is depending on what you want to do with them(street,street/strip, racing only) and how much you want to spend.
If you are looking for more on the street mainly, you can have your stock heads worked on. There are alot of places that have stock casting with port work done to them. (www.hughesengines.com), Aerohead Racing Componenets....(317)862-0223, (www.musclemotorsracing.com)
Mopar performance has a lot of different heads from:
1) stock iron replacements
2) ported stock iron heads ("44% better intake")
3) aluminum street heads
4) iron street/strip heads (w2)
5) alum. street/strip heads (large port commando)
6) alum. racing heads (w5)
The only none mopar manufactored street head options are the Edelbrock head and the indy 360-2.
They are both aluminum, edelbrock are more street oriented than the 360-2. The edelbrocks are also sold buy the places that modify stockers and are like #3 on the mopar list. The indy head, on thier site are said to have 650hp potential(maxed-out). Thier site is (www.indyheads.com).
Last choices for A block are Brodix's B1-BA heads and Indy's 360-2 head. The valves on these heads make them only available on larger bore A blocks(340,360) but I put them in anyway. These heads can be made to flow over 300cfm's!! To use that much air if where able to fit them on you would have to spin your motor to like 8000+ rpm's!!Brodix's site is (www.brodix.com)
Good Luck

Message: To keep mileage up you have to try to maximize efficiency in the low to mid rpm range.
I would look into getting a vavle job and some bowl work only. This will keep your port velocity up for good low-end tq and extend the power band up.
I'd look into a set of roller rockers with a higher ratio. I think yours are 1.5 so go with 1.6 and get a faster rate of lift. The lift rate and the friction reduction will give you more power and shouldn't cost you any in mpg.
Also get a set of long tubed 4 into 1 headers for a boost through out the powerband. They will give you more low-end power than shorties allowing you to keep your rpm's down and get the same results.
If your thinking of a cat back exhaust keep the tubing small to maintain your tq. A good rule of thumb for aftermarket single exhaust systems is, for every inch of tubing size it will support up to 100 horses. So stay within 2.5-3 inch and you'll be happy with the results.
The four items above should easily place your truck in between the 5.2 and 5.9 magnum motors.

Message: The roller rocker could done by anyone and the only tools you would need are an allen and combination wrench. You could swap the headers with wrenches or a rachet/socket set. You will probably need alot of (liquid wrench\WD40) lube to get the manifolds off without braking a bolt. If you find a cat-back kit you like installation is easy. If you can't find a kit you'll have to buy the muffler and get the tubing made at an exhaust shop. To join the headers and the exhaust you'll have to buy a y pipe or get one made a exhaust shop. As for the head work, I won't try that yourself. You should get them done at a shop that knows what thier doing. You need a skilled hand and special machines to do it right.

Message: Hooker makes a short set that comes with the y-pipe and then there is thier full length ones. Shorties are really for ease of fitting and the full lengths are for max power. The full lengths cost about $160 more and require custom exhaust tubing to the cat. The shorties could use a stock type y-pipe, but yours is probably too small and wouldn't be worth it if your going to do head work. If a magnum 5.2 y-pipe fits it would work ok because of the larger i.D. of the tubing.
Go to www.carparts.com to see the diiferent types of headers I am talking about. You could also search by your year and model for other parts like the roller rockers. The roller rockers for your year are $100 cheaper than for a magnum.

Message: Get the EddelBrock Heads and Cam pacakge or get their heads and get Crower cam and rocker package. I assure you that you will fill a significan difference. Do not pi$$ around with could are kit!! If the engine still has good compression get the heads and cams or heads cam and rockers. The heads and cam will make the bigest difference. Headers are good and so is a freeer flowing exhaust but only after you liven up the heads and cam!!!! If compression is not so great you might want to buy a rebuild kit. It is not that expensive to rebuild pre-magnum LA engines.
