Subject: Changing plugs IP: Logged
Message: I'm changing my plugs and I wanted to make sure I removed the wires (not sure of the actual name of the black caps that cover the plugs)without damaging them. Also, how do I get to the two plugs located in the front of the engine, with all that tubing over them. Do I need anti-seize on the new plug treads? Thanks!

Message: use anti sieze on threads, remove air hat, there is a bracket with 10mm bolt remove to be able to push the tubing out just enough to remove plug wires/plugs.those are coil on plug wires.be careful with the plug wires not to damage coils.good luck.

Message: Don't forget to blow out all the crap at the bottom of the holes before taking the plugs out, or it will all fall into the cylinders.

Message: Unless you are a gluten for punishment use a good douple platnium plug. They use platnium plugs in the HO version of our 4.7. With a good double platnium you put them in and forget about them for 80,000-120,000 miles.

Message: I ran the 3923's in my 4.7.. every 3k miles they had to be gapped, forget that.. i then went with the Bosch Platinum and it runs great, BUT i have heard from a few people that the 4.7 should not run platinum plugs... Not sure why...
