Message: Very nice dyno numbers, but how many times in a row can he pull that number? I'm not poo-poo'ing on the story, but when you hit a motor with a 150 shot ON TOP of 11 psi of boost, you are playing with a live grenade.....
Water/alcohol injection is no match for that sort of set-up....
Then again, I still need to read the article.
Just my $.0002 worth.....

Of course it's all fun. Till that 150 shot blows your head gaskets and the 11 psi of boost pressurizes the cooling system and ruptures the top tank on the radiator.
Okay- i'm a pessimist. Oh well.....

Message: I think I would rather have more boost and some aux. fuel injectors. I realy would not want to use nitrious and forced induction on anything I will be driveing every day. 14.7-18 PSI of boost on a daily driver with custom pistons, cam shafts,an intercooler, extra injectors and a reflashed ECM would make me a happy camper.

Message: Kota has a point, just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it. If your engine can handle that amount of boost and injection on the track, a reduced amount on the street should work great -- I would think.

Message: Okay Okay... found the article and the true Dooky on this 610 hp motor. There's no way it's a daily driver. The guy has obviously spent mega-huge money on making a 12-sec Durango. Here are some examples:
* 4.56 gears
* Kenne-Bell S/C making 10.7 psi of boost
* Two 90# injectors on the back of the S/C to richen the fuel mixture under boost
* 38# injectors for the actual cylinders
* Headers, Optimizer, Boost-A Pump
* Forged Crank
* Crower Rods
* Ross Pistons
* Modified Cams (whoever EVC is)
* Titanium Valves (1.965" exhaust valves, too)
* F&B Throttle Body (sounds familiar?)
* 5-angle valve job
* "Niagra Falls" port & polish on the heads (Jersey Cylinder Head)
* Water Injection System that squirts half alcohol, half water
* And even with all that, this guy STILL has to run 120 Octane VP race gas to keep from detonating the motor.....
* Not to mention the 150 shot from a bottle
Hooray for going 12's and making 610 hp, but I know a little about the turbo kit Sam is talking about. It only requires a turbo, a little fuel system upgrade, and some race gas for at the track. And I bet it will put that same Durango in the 12's for a LOT less money.

Message: The whole package seems a bit much for turning mid-12's. I'm just saying that 610 is awesome power, but in the form that is required to make 610, it's not streetable. Reduce the boost, take out the spray, then you've got a 400-435 hp motor that gets about 10 mpg on a daily basis. He had to gut the motor and rebuild it from the ground up just to accommodate a wild boost program.
But there are things there that can be used (alone) to make more power on our trucks, too.
But Duner's been running 10 psi of boost without all the ridiculous motor build-up costs and running mid 12's as well. Guess I'm just saying there's other ways to make the same results, all the while retaining our trade-mark 20mpg on pump gas.

Message: That truck is fully streetable, the heads were ported by KRC and UPS destroyed one of them, so Jersey did the work, after they recieved the heads from us, so much for trade secrets huh? He did break the front axles though. Very nice guy who can't stand Jim Bell believe it or not. That is a billet 72 CNC he has. Unfortunately, he did not build the motor with the pistons or rods from the beginning, that came later as problems arrised with the new boost levels. He is a true racer at heart who starts and continues for more.
As for boost or spray levels, the upper piston ring land on a stock 4.7 piston is close to reduce emissions, but is brittle under boost or spray. We had Ross cut pistons for that. Another thing that is mis-informed is the stock compression, which is 8.8 and a 66 CC chamber, using the MLS gasket at .030, and the pistons are in the hole .025. Zero deck flat tops with the 66 chamber and .030 MLS doesn't even make 10.0. The stock 6.121 rods are crack rods, which we haven't broke yet. Everything else, except for the pistons and crank driven oil pump, is near bulletproof on the 4.7L. The exhaust valves are not 1.9 as they say, you cannot fit more than 1.5 without cutting the chamber wall into the water jackets. Hang tight, 425 on the motor is around the corner.
