Subject: Which Dakota? IP: Logged
Message: I'm planning on buying a new quad Dakota quad cab. I want a V8, but I can't decide on which engine to order. I do alot of snow skiing and mountain driving, don't do any towing, but do I hope to get a ski boat next year. I'd sure appreciate any advice...

Message: For snow, get what I got, 4.7L with the AWD/Full time transfer case, it kicks a$$ in the snow, and I have boat-loads of power for towing. Check out the specifications for towing weights (as they apply to the weight of your boat...tongue weight, etc), get the tow package and you may need to get it with the 3.92 rear-end instead of the stock 3.55 rear-end.

5 speed is the only way to drive. And this truck hauls ass. I spanked a Porsche Carrera Convertible Automatic. Automatics suck!

Message: QwikKota,
I think that the guy/gal you raced must have been running on 3 cylinders then. Good thing I brought my waders.

Message: Quad cab 4.7 is OK and the auto trans is better for towing and snow.
