 Subject: Throttle Body Spacer

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has a throttle body spacer on their 318. If so, how do you like it? mileage? performance? Here's the real question...does anyone have the blueprint for one so that I can make my own? Mine is a '92 club cab 4x4

from what i have read no horsepower or torque.0 none,some gas mileage improvement.would not spend $100.00.thats my opinion.

Supposidly the stock beer barrel intake on the 3.9/5.2/5.9 already "swirles" the incoming air. If you really want to make one up they look to be about .25 - .5 thick with something like a 4 TPI thread cut into the bores. I think this thread is just some the manufaturer can say "See, this makes the air swirl". I think you would be better off spending the machine time on opening up the bores on the throttle body and taking the air horns down flush.

I've read many posts regarding TBS's because I was thinking of purchasing one. The general consensus was that owners of 3.9's, 5.2's and 5.9's think that there a glorified paper weight. Other terms used were "crap", "ripoff" and "this thing cost me a hundred bucks and it didn't do sh*t"
However, 4.7's seem to notice a slight gain in hp and gas mileage. (better mpg)
2000 4.7 auto, CC, 3.92 lsd, Mike Leach "flash",
Gibson 3" single out, K$N drop-in, synthetic mobil 1.

take off the intake manifold and the belly pan, and look inside it and you will see why it dosent work

works great for me .. 2000 v8 4.7L man .. and sounds great .. more rear sound + more power + more mpg

Thats because the 4.7L has a different intake. I believe it's made out of plastic? Anyway, it's -definatly- not a beer-barrel intake. These things are about half as thick (or more) as the engine block. :0P

I know it's not supposed to work on the 5.9
but.....I just took mine off and I lost the power
band above 4400 I've had for the last two
months. The engine definately had more after
4K to 4800 with it on. It has to be the
additional height but that manifold is really tall
already?. Just my two cents. Mike
ps. I changed nothing else.

Beware that you will not be able to use your TBS if you get an after market TB such as F&B or Fastman. I have a fastman 68mm and am unable to use the TBS.

You should just save your money and get an M1. That way you'll make all kinds of torque from about 3k on up to the rev limiter.

I don't care at all if I can't use the TBS. I'd much rather have a TB that is worth the price.
That was just a note for those thinking about both. You make the choice.
