Message: ive got the stock 3.92 gears in the rear end, the "165" thermo is probably a 180, thats usually where my temp gauge sits, and i went up to a 60 series cuz the guy at the tire shop put on a 40 series, and i thought it looked awful...this is probably mostly cuz of my last truck (jeep with 31's)..i didnt do enough research on tire sizes and the final gear ratio, if i had it to do again id get a 50 series...
any advice??

Message: your gear ratio has changed cause of your 60
series tire, and the 165 thermo is too cold, try
a 180. I'm sure that rhino lining ways a lot, my

Message: there is nothing wrong with your truck. the only thing i would do is change out the 165 thermo. for a 180. put it this way my truck keeps up with a stock cc R/T. you dont hardly have any serious mods done to it. what do you expect? maybe the guys you raced had mods? but i dont think anything is wrong with your truck.

Message: Your right in line with most stock R/Ts, It took me a lot of modifications to get my CC R/T into the 14s (M1, Headers/exhuast, PCM Flash, TB, FIPK, etc.). Plus I had my fair share of close calls with what appeared to be slower cars.
After a few more modifications I'm now in the low 14s.
Get yourself if you don't already have: Throttle body, M1 intake manifold, Headers, Mopar PCM. I bet you will see the high 14s with that.

Message: afi 360, The aspect ratio increase to 60 series changed your final effective ratio from 3.92 to 3.78, assuming stock 255 width. It would be even more if a wider tire was selected. Next set of tires, look at the Nitto 275/50/17's. Almost same circumference, changes ratio from 3.92 to 3.95. 255/50/17's would net you a 4.07 final ratio.

Message: hey justin, i traded my rc r/t for my truck i have now which is a cc r/t....all i have done to it is a 180 thermo and a home brew cold air intake with K&N...and i'm pulling off 15.82s left and right...ya its a bit slower than my reg cab but i had headers, 180, pcm, exhaust plus cold air intake and my best time was a 14.98...i thought that was slow for at least those modes on my reg cab...plus i'm getting tons of wheel spin on both trucks...so dont give up on your club cab..its got potential just keep working on it..thats what i like about my r/t, its not too slow but every litle mod i do to it it improves...i got a buddy with a 01 svt lightning, kicks the sh$t out of me every time i dont mine cause i use him as a goal and every time i get closer and closer..and maybe one day i'll catch up to him..if you wanted just to go fast you could of bought a used GT for the money spent on your truck but whats the fun in that...trucks are more challenging, thats why i have mine..well im done spouting off just thought i throw some change your way...
peace out.

Message: Honestly... in my opinion I think it's "some" of the 99 year model R/T's -- I had a yellow 99 with mods... headers, exhaust, k&n, 180* thermostat and I was getting outrun by 92 V8 318's (and others) - I raced it against a bone stock 00 R/T (with my girlfriend driving the 00 and me driving the 99 - she does know how to race though) and it beat me BAD --- I mean like about 7 car lengths in the 1/8 --- I traded the next day... put the same mods on my 00 R/T and could beat or hang with everything I ever raced....

Message: Back to the original Question, your tires have a
lot to do with it, alsotry the 180 stat. Dont be
discouraged, once you do intake and full exhaust,
you should be at about 15 flat. Practice your
starts. It sounds like alot of these guys are
spinning at the start; take it easy in first gear,
then put it down. The M-1 really helps, as does a
TB. I have an extra 2bbl M-1 still in the box if
anyone is intereste
