The stock cat is a high folw on the magnums.

Aaro, i dont know what kat you have, but i got mine replaced by the dealer, then i put a carsound high flow cat on and there was a differance in sound. i think the carsound is a little too loud and raspy.

kota on 20s , I have a "97 ,5.2 , no pre cats.The early ('87-'91 I think)Dakotas had a very restrictive cat,and Mopar did make a hi-flo cat for the early Dakotas . On the newer trucks the stock cats flow good and with a thru-pipe exhaust like the "Dayno Max ultra-flo" or a "Magna-flo" they give you a bit of back pressure and is a good street set up.Some of the aftermarket cats do flow better than the stock, but with a good cat back and headers they get loud and may be a bit to free flowing for bottom end performance.My $.02 , if the stock cat is still good leave it in , if it goes bad then it may be the time to put in an aftermarket cat and deal with any problems that may cause(check engine light , noise , loss of low end power ...).

i have a 98 5.2, and when i put the cat on i didnt notice any differance in power, and its getting anoying. i want my sock cat back.
