When i first heard of the dakotas having the magnum 360 in them i thought thats gotta be one bad son of a gun, but just later i found out they only put out 250hp. Anybody got an idea of what that would run, hell its a light enough truck. what things could i do to one to make it gain more ft. pds. and hp??? I figured chips, intake, headers, cam.... Anything else you guys would like to add. Thanks alot

Ive seen the Mckormic Dak with the 360 woop the snot out of a 350 Chevy Comaro bothe were in the same class of draging the truck ran 9.76 in the 1/4 i dont remember what the chevy got though remember that that 360 is hightly modified and no nitros was used.

I don't have nitrous, aftermarket cams or heads and the Z28s, Mustang GTs, etc are candy in my mouth. I have won some and lost some but never gotten blown away by any NA production car/truck on the track.
My best time so far is 14.4 in the quarter mile. I have lots of bolt ons and have probably spent a few grand but the truck is much faster then it's 15-16 second stock times.

I go to the track often and I swear I have beaten some Mustang GTs and a Camaro Z28s, if it makes you feel any better they were probably automatics or bad drivers. Don't get me wrong I have lost to those kind of cars too, but beating a few of them is not impossible. Off the line is our strong point, so go to a 1/8 mile track and you might suprise yourself.
My modifications are: K&N FIPK, F&B 52 Throttle Body, M1 2bbl, 1.7RRs, Mopar Headers, Carsound Cat, Cutout, Magnaflow Muffler, B&G Flashed PCM, JBA 9mm wires, Autolite 3923, Borg Warner cap/rotor, Crane Fireball Ignition and Coil, 180 stat, and probably something else but I can't remember.
Raced at Houston Race Way Park all summer long with several other R/Ts, can't waite for the cold temps. Have not raced since I went from a 50 to 52TB, and with the 1.7RRs so my actual times may be even a little better right now.

LI Blackdak - I got beat by a girl one time in a 5-speed Firehawk, talk about shame. She took off on the first yellow light, and got a 14.1, it was a sight to see.

I gotta admit, the Dakotas can do pretty good in the 1/8th mile. When I was up against a mustang cobra once I kept within a couple car lengths for half the track. Granted neither of us had good launches (they used a .4 pro instead of a sportsman tree). Too bad he wiped the track with me on the other half of the track.

Our 0-60 is very quick and we can hang with almost anything when it's a short distance. Even when your a good second slower then the other guy you will be side by side for the first 100 feet or so.

I don't see that happening when I race with my Dakota vs. GT's and Z28's/TA's. But when I drive my GT's, I kill even moderately modified R/T's and SLT's. I just wish that I could race myself. Anyone want to volunteer to race my Dak vs. my '02 GT (stock)?

I heard Houston is the best place to race. I have a couple of buddies that have raced there before and both had consistent 1/2 second faster time differences from the times they got up here in dallas.

A guy came down from Oklahoma one time and got a 13.9 in his RC R/T, his previous best was around 14.2 or so.
Mike are you on the delphi board? There are a couple of Dallas guys on there.
