Subject: 318 doesn't build oil pressure very fast IP: Logged
Message: It'll build oil pressure right away when it's cold, but when it's hot it takes probly 10sec (never really timed it.. but it seems like eternity). It'll just sit down on the low peg and not move (and the light is on, too.. so it's not the sender). Also, when you're running up and down the road it doesn't have the same oil pressure values as it did before (like now when you're running on the interstate at ~80mph it'll read the same amount of oil pressure as when it's idling). :(
BTW- it's a '97 Dakota and the motor has almost 15k miles (had to put a new motor in it recently).
Any ideas? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. :)

Message: I had the same problem, checked the pressure with a real gage and it was ok. Replaced the sending unit and gage is reading properly. Did notice the dash gage does react slower than the real pressure gage.

Message: Bonestock is right. Remove the sending unit and install a tee. Replace the sending unit on one leg and a mechanical guage on the other. thread the tubing up into the cab and you can see what the real pressure is.
