Subject: Rear shocks??? IP: Logged
Message: I had to pull out fast into traffic the other day and when the rear tires broke loose, the whole back end started to hop violently. The dealer replaced the rear shocks about 4000 miles ago with, probably, original equipment shocks. I can't believe they could be junk that soon. Are OE shocks that bad? What can I put in their place so that won't happen again? Thanks.

Message: Stock shoks (made in Brazil) are crap!!
I second the vote for EDELBROCK IAS PERFORMER MONOTUBE SHOCKS ( http://www.shockwarehouse.com/ )
My dak had got so bad that the rear end would 'hop' to one side over expansion joints(highway) or washboard(dirt roads). It was SCARY to have the rear wheels 'hop' several inches to the side at 70 MPH on the highway.
After installing the EDELBROCK shocks, My Dak is like a different truck. Highway ride is ROCK STEADY. Washboard on dirt roads is gobbled up as if it is not there. Braking and turning is better-controled due to the patented Inertia Active System (IAS) from Ricor. (Edelbrock bought the sole rights to the Ricor system which has ruled the Paris-Dakkar races for several years.)
Even accelleration is better because the rear wheels "stick" to the ashpult wheras before the slightest bump would make them come 'unglued'.
