I have a full-size '91 Dodge Dakota 5.2l EFI LE. Can someone point me in the right direction to find my fuel filter? I've replaced this item on other vehicles I've owned (in one case, having to remove the back seat to get to it!), and I think it's time to replace it on my truck. On my way home Sunday night (400 miles overnight), she started losing power on hills, a good indication, no?
Thanks for any help.

On my previous Dakota (94 2WD V6) the fuel filter was in the tank in an assembly with the pump according to a dealer that I asked. Requires draining and dropping the tank to replace. If I were doing it, I'd replace the pump, filter, and anything else I could at the same time because of the hassle of dropping the tank. Of course, this is based on what a dealer told me...I never replaced the filter on my old Dakota because I never needed to, and the hassle involved made me cross fuel filter changes off my list of preventative maintenance items.

its easier to take the bed off than to drop that tank... just a suggestion...

well anyways, on my 98 model it states that i do not ever need to change the fuel filter unless there is a known contaminate (sp?) in the tank.

I am the proud owner of a 2001 Dakota. I am sporting the 4.7 liter V8. I am at about 53000 miles and counting. I use this as a work truck, I drive close to 3000 miles a month. Today my Malfunction Indicator Light came on. I have noticed a little drop in power recently. I am having trouble finding info on the fuel filter. Do I really need to change the filter? Or is it my plugs also? Maybe both? Thanks for any help in advance.
