Subject: The Best Dual Exhaust I've Ever Owned IP: Logged
Message: Now before I get inside a hornets nest I'll make the disclaimer that I'm no expert and Exhaust systems are a matter of personal preference.
I've just recently installed a Gibson Stainless Cat back dual exhaust system with a pair of tips (non-resonating). And I have to say that despite my worries, it sounds like V8 Heaven. My fiance doesn't care much for loud cars/trucks (don't ask me why im marrying her hehehe) and it gave me some concern because some trucks sound obnoxious and Rasspy. I know that flowmaster is a industry favorite and Borla is for rich boys but since I don't care much for either one, I had to go with Gibson.
Yeah I know it probably isn't the best I could get for my money, and the performance isn't peak, but I'll be damned if it doesnt sound gorgeous! A deep mellow throaty tone, with a excellent idle sound makes this probably the most comfortable system to have IMO. It's loud when it needs to be, when accelerating rapidly its mean, and when its coasting it can turn some heads. I was hoping to get to a Dakota Rally in Ohio this weekend and I'll polish it up for some of you to look at. And also, as a side note... My truck isn't always about roar and burnouts, it sometimes is a traveling vehicle, and on the freeway at normal RPM's this system can barely be heard over the roar of the freeway.
Its quiet enough to allow my Fiance to take naps during travel trips, and loud enough during cruising to attract some attention without the cops looking.
All in all i paid about $400 for a stainless cat back rear dual... worth every penny. I've hard borla and flowmaster people give me compliments on my sound.
