Subject: Need Help Starting Problem Bad PCM? IP: Logged
Message: This past weekend I started having trouble getting my truck to start in the morning. It would turnover but there was no spark. After 10 minutes of trying it finally started. I was able to drive it for the rest of the day starting and stoppping the motor w/out incident. It sat all day sunday and started fine for work (4:30)am on monday. When I went to leave work it was back to not starting but only turning over. It was determined again that there was no spark. I tested the wires and coil and MSD appear fine. The problem is that the wire that sends the signal form the PCM appears dead(when tested with a test light with key in ignition and while starting there was no current. It is the green wire with the orange stripe that goes to the factory coil. They is also a grey wire which i believe is the ground. My question is has any had this problem and with given diagnosis does it sound like the PCM is bad?? I am a little hesitant to shell out the money for a PCM with/out being sure.
Thanks Brad
