hey guys, im new to this board so please be kind LOL
99 ex. cab r/t, 34xxx miles, toyo proxes st tires (255/60/17), lakewood t-bars, rhino lining, flowmaster 50series, jet stage II, 160 degree thermo, k+n filter, taylor wires and bosch plat.+4 plugs...

anyway, in the last 2 weeks or so (havent done any mods except the ignition wires/plugs in awhile), my truck has gotten really weak..instead of spinning the tires for 45-50 feet, they will spin for about 5...not that traction is a bad thing, but she feels like she's dogging it...i timed my 1/4 mile at the local 'strip' and im running a 16.5...give or take 1/2 second...thats pretty bad!!! ANY suggestions, questions will be gladly accepted!!!! please help me!!!!

I have the same prob as you in that my 2000
R/T CC seems to be getting slower and
slower. I know the hot weather does not help,
but in your case I suggest checking filter,
ditching the jet and asking the boys over at
delphi forums dakota r/t site.

yeah, that sounds about right...i was told that the 360 gets 'tired' at about 30K....hope its just a phase or something... i bought the r/t cuz its quick to start with and that engine is tough...i just hope that since its not running 100% right now putting the N.O.S. won't hurt it...what do you think would be the highest shot i should put on a stock motor???

I have 115K on my '99 R/T and it's running stronger than ever. Sure I have put the 2.02 R/T heads, comp cams cam, and roler rockers on it, but still for 115K it's running real strong. Gettng some of the best gas mileage it has ever gotten and only burns 1 qt of oil between changes. I drive my truck exteremely hard. WOT from almost every stop sign or light. Many 1/4 mile passes, and many street races.

John, I woud suggest resettin the PCM and removing the Jet chip. The PCM will compensate for the JET chip over time. Also you should probably change plugs every 10-15K miles, and cap/rotor at same time. Get rid of the Bosch plugs since they will hurt your performance more than help(been there done that club). Get either the stock CHampion plugs or Autolite plugs. The Autolites are around $1 each. I woudl also check into getting a new cat installed. These truck have a tendancy to clog up the cats once they start getting modded. I've been through four cats and currently run a gutted cat. The tires are actually hurting your times as well since they effectivly decrease your gear ratio from a 3.92 to a 3.78 which will slow you down but give slightly better gas mileage(if you correct for the miles as well) For every 1000 miles you actually drive, the odometer only shows 965 miles. Also, spinning the tires shows nothing. It's better to not spin the tires and actually get traction when you are racing.

Hskr...did U use Comp Cams RR's if so what ratio? I have the 1.6's sitting in my room...the guy that did my heads & cam work bolted 2 on and was a little ify installing them w/o putting new pushrods in it.

But my question is, even though they're the stock ratio will I need longer or shorter pushrods or can I bolt em up w/o problems. I'm thinking since its a new engine anyways that if I didnt need a different size pushrod that the stock ones will still hold up.

What do U think?

I used the Mopar 1.6 rockers. They came with new pushrods. Pushrods are cheap and woudl be good insurance to replace them rather than try and use the factory ones. It all depends on how many miles are on your engine though. Mine had over 100K when I did the heads/cam/rockers.

Go with the longer pushrods. Helps the geometry of the rocker on the Valve stem. I'm running the Crowr pushrods. I believe .50 longer. not sure. Everything lines up perfect. I'm running the Crane Cams Rockers woth a huge Crower cam. over .544 lift and 232 duration. sweet idle.

Hskr...where'd you get your pushrods from...mine didn't come w/ any. Do you have the part no. I need? I tried calling Comp Cams about it but you know the techs are like those guys at Autozone...they really dont know about the part itself just what it says in the book, so he wasn't really hepful. I mean when I goto order new ones do they have to know the specs of my engine and cam? or do they just send out pushrods for a 360 V8 that are longer than stock?

Since you have pretty much the same setup it'd be really helpful if you knew the part no. for those pushrods...I'm using the Crane conversion kit.

Thanks

~Mike~
