I am the proud owner of a 97 Dakota CC 4x4 with a 5.2/5 speed. I also have a good friend with a 98 Dakota Reg Cab 4x4 3.9/5 speed. Never once have we argued about which is better. When we are offroad, he keeps up. When were on the highway, he also keeps up. I've pulled him out, he's pulled me out. For what we use them for, their is no difference. Don't get me wrong, I love my V8, but the V6's are great motors, also. They respond well to performance mods, just like the V8's. I'm just posting this because this site should be about Dakota owners trying to help out one another, not bash each others truck. You shouldn't talk bad about another guys truck, because he may be the only one with a tow strap in the moment of truth.

Truth be told both V6 and V8s are great engines, I wanted a V8 (4.7) But the insurance hike and fuel enconomy forced me to get a 6. A dodge is a dodge regardless of what it's got underhood, 4,6,8,10 it's all good.
