Subject: QuadCab or ClubCab? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 regular cab I-4 5-speed. It's slow, but can actually do pretty well with the ac off when turning more than 3500 RPMs, but i am thinking about getting anoter dakota, either a club cab or quad cab, but can't decide which. I have to get 4.7 V8 w/ a 5-speed manual. What do you guys suggest based on price and experience owning or driving the QC or CC?

Message: Personally I love my Club Cab, but I think it also depends on your daily application of the vehicle. I have no kids, no wife, no dog, no cat......good god I'm boring... any how.
If you really don't need the four door and the room then why get it? But if you need it, I can see it coming in handy.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Message: I currently have both. With a 6 month old daughter, the QC is the family vehicle. I have the cc for the larger bed and the resale value.

Message: My QC 4.7 5spd gives me the best of many worlds.
Seat belts and space for 6, done it, but two where children. The QC gives you the verstility of a SUV, plenty of space, great for trips.
I'm about to get a nice shell, with windows and a pass thru window to go with the one on my truck. With a power tailgate lock, should be real nice. Gonna get a rack for surfboards, bikes, etc. on top. And lights and a 12v power outlet inside as well.

Message: Quad cab all the way! But, of course, you may not be hauling a wife and three kids (3,5 and 18) and all their stuff. I do wish the bed was about a foot longer for those Home Depot runs.

Message: Club Cab all the way for me... you sacrifice way too much bed space with a Quad Cab IMHO. BUT... that said, if you're needing room for more than a kid or two in the back then a QC is probably the way to go. My 8 year old does just fine in the back of my CC.
But it all depends on your needs. If you don't need the extra room of the QC save yourself the money and get the CC (plus I think the CC looks better personally!) :-)

Message: I really like my '00 QC. When I make Depot runs, I flip out the BedExtender. Great for carrying 10' goods, although at 12', life gets somewhat interesting. Great dry space for carrying groceries or other goodies inside with the rear seats up, or carting around others with the seats dowm. Good leg space in the rear for adults, too. Handles like a car, works like a truck. The only suspension adder I'm planning is frame airbags for when I carry heavier weight.

Message: I have a 2000 CC and would have rather had the QC but the dealer said another 4 months wait. I like my CC because it is roomy but after the wife just had our first baby, I have yet to find a baby seat that will fit in the CC without touching the front seats.
Anyone out there with newborns or children under a year old have a car seat that will fit behind the front seat of a CC without actually touching the front seats? Wife won't let me go anywhere in the truck with my baby girl until I find that seat.
Its against the law here in Florida for a child under 1 to face forward and after the child seat class I sat in, I can see why.

Message: I bought a 2001 QC over a year ago and I realy like it!!!! It fits all three of my boys cars seats in back and has enough space in the bed for most things. I though about makeing a bed extender from muffler tubeing. It was a He11 of alot cheaper then a Durango.

Message: I have a 2000 QC and I love it, the bed has only been too short on a couple of occasions and then like everyone else you just put the tailgate down. Having the extra interior space is great, especially if you have a baby.

Message: I bought the CCab... and now I wish I would have bought the Quad cab. The main reason I didn't get the Quad cab was the extra couple of grand... but I also didn't like having the openess behind me. I have been used to driving a standard cab... it was just a little disconserting having my back exposed. {personal weirdness... I know}
But, now that I have the CCab the only thing the back is really good for is a good place for my dog to ride and the placement of all the crap that can accumulate in a vehicle.
Having a door with direct access to the rear seats would have been nice. This way I could easily slide my toolbox or other items in. And, having a QCab would allow me to transport more people... something I hadn't considered until I got a new vehicle. {no-one wanted to ride in the '72 GMC???}
There's my 2 cents!!!
