Subject: 5.9 headers and chrome wheels IP: Logged
Message: I am looking at the 17"chrome wheels for my r/t does anyone know how much they r or have any for sale?? Also i was looking into headers and i have called lordco and other places to see if i can get them and they told me that they only make them for the regular dakota's not the r/t's does that make a diff(mine is a 98 reg cab) they also said that the engine sits to the right a little possibly making it very hard to get the headers in?? can anyone shed some light on this topic
thanks

Message: to get the headers in the dealer said to take the wheels off and take the inner fender out would be easiest. as for the wheels they are around $600 each at the dealer. try ebay for the wheels.

Message: The 2002 Ram-Dakota Dodge Accessories pamplet states this on wheels-
-Cast & painted,17" x 9": $640.00
-Cast & chromed,17" x 9": $1,100.00
I own an '02 R/T. They come w/ the chromed wheels from factory. They are not actually chrome, they are just dipped, but I think they look just as good.

Message: Take the wheels off... oh boy... Better change that coil fluid, and muffler bearings! LOL.
PPH headers are a drop in affair, from the top-- you'll need a floor jack, jack stands, and a sawsall to cut the stock pipes before the dual inlet cat.
Hardest part is getting slack out of the O2 sensor wire so your O2 sensor will connect to the down pipe on the driver's side. Its do-able, but a real pain in the butt.
Headers none coated.. $425 shipped (possibly on backorder-- but if you order them from me, you'll get them when they are ready-- as always).

Message: I can kinda see why they might take the wheel off on a 4.7. You can see the exhaust bolts from there. There is room on the 5.9 to get beside the engine.

Message: Here is a question, hopefully not a dumb one. I have the JBA shorties, great quality header- good thing since they are pretty much all you can get for the V6. Up until now, most of my research has been for the 3.9. What I'm wondering is this: are the 318 & 360s also limited to shorty use? I know that Rams can use the long headers, but can we? I'd like to look at installing headers soon on my project 360.
97 3.9 CC Sport. Black. Auto 3.55, Quick D Intake, JBA Stainless headers, Autolite 3923s, stainless Borla Turbo XL & tip, V8 TB, FMS 19 lb fuel injectors, 17x10 Boyd Smoothies, JBA 9mm cables, Lakewood chrome traction bars. Have, but not installed: 3.92s, Infinity Sound System

Message: Lesley,
I was looking at headers for my 93' 318 and I found a lot of options. None shortie headers for years 92-95 I found 4 into 1 hooker super competition headers, doug thorley tri-y's, mopar performance tri-y's and hedman 4 into 1 headers. The hedman's said they are for all of dodge trucks in 2wd config. with v8's. The hookers are all out max power ones but are $701 and the hedman's are $411. I found the most selection at WWW.CARPARTS.COM.
You know you would have to build the rest of you exhaust from scratch when going with the hedman's and hookers. With the tri-y's you the exhaust is in the stock location and you would save money/headaches with available cat-back systems.
doug thorleys site is www.thorleyheaders.com

Message: Thanks for the info. Headers were one of the things I thought that I could install myself on my 360 while it is out of the truck. There are so many more options available for V8.
