Subject: running badly IP: Logged
Message: the truck is a 99 r/t. i friend of mine is working on it and with the ignition on all the sensors is reading real eratic. his scanner wiil show every sensor jumping around from like 0-4.96 volts. it will start like this but will only stay running if you are giving it gas. the iac motor is doing nothing but with his scanner he can open the iac motor up and make it idle. as soon as you give it gas it wants to fall on its face and will only rev to about 2000 rpms. i know i have had problems with the computers before so were thinking i have another bad computer. going to take 2 of them to the dealer tomorrow and see if they can flash the factory program back in them. anyone have any other ideas as to what it could be? any help would be appreciated, bout to just run it in a pond or something. beginning think that dodges are only good for a boat anchor.

Message: it wasn't cracks but grooves. compression is fine on that cylinder so hopefully it will be ok. it just doesn't want to run now. don't know what i'm going to do now. it just isn't me having problems. there are alot of people on here conplaining about problems that dodge won't fix. rear axle housings warping, rotors warping, intake manifold plenum leaking, rear transmission housing bushing spinning causing seals to go, blowing head gaskets, reving in first gear till it hits the rev limiter, etc. i think you get the point. i know i will never own another dodge product. just for the heck of it i went to a ford lightning page. you don't hear them griping about hardly any problems at all with there trucks. they don't have near the problems that we have with these dodges. i know as soon as i get it fixed it is definately gone. going to get a real truck

Message: i know a lightning isn't going to be as easy to work on as the 360 but i would rather have something that is more reliable and harder to work on than something that is easy to work on and breaks down all the time.

Message: Take it to someone who knows what they are doing. It is probably something simple like a plugged cat.

Message: The truck is probobly having all the problems cuz of the bonehead that owns it and in a few years down the line you will be hearing lots of lightning owners haveing more problems than us and have you ever had to do long term maintinace on a crapy truck like that?

Message: the guy that is working on it now is a certified mechanic. i doubt it if you could ever have anymore problems than what you have out of a dodge. just read all of the post on here that people post all day long, this problem that problem, never ending problems, then go on a ford forum. they are a cheap piece of junk that is only good for a boat anchor, aint no wonder dodge had to up there warranty, hell nobody wants to buy the pieces of junk.

Message: It sounds like you have had a real bad experience with your truck. The Dakotas do have some, let's say shortcomings. But having once owned a Datsun truck and an S10, I'll take the Dak any day. The reason you see so many problems on the web site is that it is here to help people with their problems and promote fellowship. I don't know if any the other manufactures have such a site. Good luck on your next truck. I hope you get a winner.

Message: i don't think they are going to be posting about there trcuks starting up but just go on a ford lightning page and read some of the posta. all they talk about is what can i do to make this thing faster or talking about running at the track. hardly ever do they talk about problems with their trucks, seems like that is all that people talk about on here.

Message: sounds like the delphi R/T board. all they talk about is how much nitrious they can shoot, who is going to the track, what heads work with what cam, new time slips, ect. no one ever talks about problems
