Message: Yeah, I was lookin into the homebrew, but PVC doesn't take heat after a period of time. The PVC breaks down and becomes brittle. And if it does get stress cracks it could let any type of crap through and you wouldn't know it. And we all know it only takes a little bit of something to do a lot a bit of s^$%. To each his own I guess, but I don't wanna take that chance on my truck. I don't wanna p*&^ anybody off, I'm not doubting anyones ability of making the homebrew, I just prefer aluminum over a homebrew PVC. I wanna know different oppinions on the Z-Tube, 360 and stuff like that.
I appreciate the info though.

Message: The only thing I can recommend, which I've been doing all along, is to make a heat sheild. No matter if you have a homebrew or a Z-tube ... make a heat sheild!
I made mine out of galvanized steel (.030" thk) from a chimney pipe ($5 or something). Basically just cut it with aviation or tin snips, pop rivet it together and then either rivet or screw to your engine bay. ... then I got some air duct insulation and stuck it to both sides of the heat shield and around my home brew. now after hours of driving, I can pop the hood and the filter is still cool to touch.
that's my thoughts anyhow...

Message: I put on a 360 intake on a 4.7L, and noticed an immediate performance increase, including better throttle response. Sound is really good too.

I love the sound. Can't keep my foot out of it!
Throttle reponse is quicker. Guess I'll do the gibson sport truck exhaust next.
