I have a QC 2002 4.7. It has one cat on it.I was wondering if anyone has this setup with a 40 series flowmaster 2.5 in/out single line? If so, does it hurt the low end power? Is it too loud?

I`m looking for that flow sound but dont wont lose any low end torque.

I ran flowmaster 40 for about 6 months just switched to magnaflow. instantly noticed alot more low end power! It's alot quieter but it still sounds good, give me better performance over noise any day!!! If ya wanna be loud get the 40 flowmaster if ya want better power buy a magnaflow...

definately stay away from the flowmaster. you
will be dissapointed in the sound. they sound
great on R/T's, but on newer motors, they
sound "raspy". go with a manaflow or
dynomax. as long as you keep the stock pipe,
it shouldnt affect you at all.

don't expect much gain or loss from a catback ... especially on the 4.7L.

I think the optimal system for the 4.7L is a 2.25" Y-Pipe to a high flow cat, then 2.5" from the cat to the muffler and either dual 2.25" out of the muffler or single 2.5" ... 3" is just too big for the 4.7L IMHO ... think about it .. it's only 287CID whereas the R/T is 360CID and people want to put the exact same exhaust on.

And as for flowmaster, it sounds great on the 4.7L and I can attest to that because I have one (40 series delta flow).

kimmey,
go with 3" on the R/T

juniordak,
I think the setup you're looking at would be great

But those are just my opinions :)

I've got an 01 4.7 quad 4x4 with the 3" 50 series flowmaster reduced to the stock pipe. Sounds great!
I do think I lost a little power but, when I get a set of headers it will all be good.

You will have to pry my FLOWMASTER 40 from my cold dead hands!

Mine HAD the low end bog with just a flowmaster. Then I had a bigger collector installed. 3" off the headders 3 1/2" single all the way back.

Good power! I am going to the track Friday.

JuniorDak311,

I bet if you look close you will see it has 3 CATS if it's a 4.7L 2002 model. The other 2 will be at the exhaust manifold on each side. about the size of a softball. I have a flowmaster and it's OK not very loud, but sounds good. Got good response from it.

Later,
