I've had mine about 2 weeks now on my 4.7L,
and I love it. There is a definite increase in
power. I'm glad I got it, well worth the money.
Sounds really good too.

Love my intake... Definitely felt the difference in power when I installed it, and lots of people comment about its looks and the heat shield at events.

You'd use the same intake as the 5.9L with the heat shield - I believe a K&N intake provides somewhere around 10-15hp for the Dakota V8's.

I just installed my K&N inverted cone last night. That thing works like a charm and sounds like a lion. I home brewed the intake. I first went with the design I found in this forum but ended up kind of bulky and heavy with the PCV setup. So I head for Home Depot and found a 3"x36" thick aluminum water heater vent hose that fitted like if was designed for it. I was able to mold it the way I wanted and super light and since is aluminum it was naturally heat shielded. The only thing is that I need to find a place for the breather hose. I'm undecided to put it at the filter end since both ends are sheet metal. or to put a K&N breather filter. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hey Fred, is that the accordian style aluminum hose? I saw that the other day and was thinking about using it for my intake. Have any pics?

The water heater piping he is talking about is called "dual wall vent piping". It is for gas water heaters. You can buy different lenghts and the fitting is called an "adjustable 90" which will swivel to give you many angles from 90 degrees to almost straight.
The pipe is "a pipe within a pipe" so it may work as an intake system and have a built in heat shield.

On the homebrew intake, what part number K&N are you people using? And has anyone found an Outerwear pre-filter that will fit one. Thank you for your time.

If I quite remember, it was P# RR3003 that is for the chrome one. I think rr3001 is red and rr3002 is blue; I'm not sure. Mine is the one with the inverted cone in the front. If they tell you they don't have it, ask them to check on the updated pages of their catalogs because is a new product. Also tell them to show you the picture to make sure the order you the right filter.
