Subject: Low end Power IP: Logged
Message: I have a '92 318 dakota, and I was wondering what people think is the best mod for low end power on my truck. It really crawls off the line until the RPMs get up a ways. Thanx

Message: If the engine is sound and all other parts are good a '92 5.2 should smoke almost any tire you put on it. A K&N air cleaner and a ported throtlle body with some shorty headers will pick up the low end.The headers won't gain you as much as they do on the newer 5.2's because the '92 and early 93's had a larger ehaust manifold.

Message: What type do you have rc or cc,2wd or 4wd? Off the line acceleration has a lot to do with tire size and gearing. If you have 3.55 gears and 32" rear like myself it won't smoke the tires from a rolling start. Steeper gears would probably be your best bet, then a shift kit for that peice of sh#t transmission dodge put in our trucks.

Message: WWW.KRCPERFORMANCE.COM sells the trans-go shift kit and tell why they only use it. They build probably most of the fastest dakotas. Mopar performance sells thier own shift available at WWW.MOPARTSRACING.COM. The other option is a Turbo action shift kit homepage:WWW.TURBOACTION.COM so far only have found WWW.COPERACINGTRANS.COM to sell it.
