There are 4.7 liter air intakes on ebay that use a K&N air filter and 4 inch abs plastic tubing? My question is that is buying any kind of intake worth the savings on ebay or should I pay more and get something from a trusted source? It sounds like it is just someone selling hombrew intakes on ebay using K&N filters. Another question, is metal tubing better than plastic or is it more for looks?

I would stay away from the plastic intakes.
Some guys have had no problems with them,
but the plastic could start to melt and or warp.

I bought an intake from ebay. The one with the plastic hose. Snap to install it. I have driven with it for about 10,000 miles. I have had no probs. So it is a judgment call on you looking from the last post. I am on the other hand want to put in a metal tube. One it looks better. Two less chance of it F-ing up.

I had a home made one. Uses it for couple of months, it was made out of CPVC pipes. Anyway, I sold it to my brother and bought me a Intense performance Stage III intake for mine 5.9L Durango. Damn it looks good, and I can acctually feel the power icrease.
