Whoever said car dealers will screw you if they can is a idiot. Did you sign the paperwork, you did. I sell dodges and my opinion is be a smart consumer, do your homework, if you have to drive somewhere else to buy do that or get a few quotes from dealers and so who will price the best.I dont make anyone sign or buy anything they dont want. Back to the story. tell them you will give them 15500.00 out the door, write a check and tell them to take it or leave it, everyone has to make profit, but not alot unless you let them..

So what you're telling me is, if I blindly offered you a good sized amount on top of what you were even expecting, you are going to tell me that's too high and decline my offer?

No, I doubt it. If they offer you a good deal -- no, a steal --, you are going to take it, whether it's a rip off or not.

You say:

“Whoever said car dealers will screw you if they can is a idiot.”

Then say you must be a smart consumer if you don’t want to get ripped off? Wouldn’t being a non “smart” consumer be getting screwed, just because the dealer knows they can?

I see a conflict here..

Of course you never put people to gun point to buy anything, but you play – pray? -- on emotions for purchases. You don’t force, but you all do a damn good job at creating delusions.

Correct me if I am wrong here, please; I don’t mind eating my own words.

Man i couldnt agree with you more. His bosses have brainwashed him so much he thinks he doesnt try to screw people. If i was to offer to pay sticker price on a car that they would sell to me for 2,000 less, like he is gonna say "well we can take a little off your offer" hahahahah. Not that im stupid enough that i wouldnt try to bargain anyway. Plus my uncle is the sales manager at one of the local dodge dealers so i got my dakota for what the dealer paid for it.

My thoughts...
If you go in there and say you want it for 15 grand out the door, not a dime more, and just stick to it they will give it to u for that. They are asking 17,500 basically. My dad bought our suburban (asking price 14,000) for 8,000 doing that. That's almost half the asking price. My friend works at a dealership, and he says go in at the end of the month, and as long as the dealership is making 500 bucks, they will sell it. This dealership probably paid 11,500 TOPS for this truck, maybe less if it was a tade-in. Just go in, sit down, explain you want it, but will not, no way in hell, pay over 15,000 (or whatever you feel comfortable paying for it), and I promise you they will take it. Its only 2500 less than asking, and they are gonna be making bank on it, they'll be happy, you'll be happy, we'll all be happy. And even if you dont take my advice, youd be getting a good deal at 16,600... but why pay a grand and a half more if u dont have to?

Okay guys I might sell cars but I also have a conscience, If you get the car at invoice which everyone should be getting, I'm not saying I don't make a profit but If you feel in your mind that it is a good deal at what is on the deal you will buy right. Yes you will. With all the information available by the internet and other sources how can you get screwed? If you feel it is a great deal and buy what you want, is there a problem?

Guys the key words both of you had were "if I were to offer you" how am I screwing you you are giving me the money right. Do you know how to make a car deal without a relative being in the buisness. There are times when a vehicle keeps all the money and there is atime when we make a hundred dollar profit or less. But if you are willing to offer, anyone would take it it not just a salesman. I am a consumer also. The internet is a wonderful tool for bargaining power and getting a good deal.
