Message: does the 2000 4.7 dakota come stock with
posi-tractrion? Does it have to be custom ordered on the newer daks?

Message: In answering the original question... Posi-traction is a CHEVERLET option and is NEVER available on a Dodge. Dodge offers the TRAC-LOC for the LSD.
On the 2000 Daks, if one selected the V8, the LSD was AUTOMATICALLY added to the order. (and added to the price)
The ordering computer would not allow a V8 to be ordered without LSD. (I supposed that one could specifically DELETE LSD from the order before sending it in.)
In fact, technically, the Dak came "stock" with a 4 cylinder engine. But since this was overridden by the ordering computer as soon as one selected almost any other options... a 4cylinder Dak did not often actually leave the factory.

Message: I love my No-Slip for Powertrax. It's very smooth-- I've never heard it clicking. I do sometimes get my inside tire to chirp, but I just need to let off the gas and it is completely transparent. Two balck marks are much better than one, but now they are much shorter... time for more power.

Message: The factory chrysler lsd in daks is not the eaton, nor an auburn! It is a dana trac-lok. The muscle cars did NOT have posi traction, they were called sure grips! if you want an unbreakable rear end, buy an 83/4 from a musclecar, the e body ones are the same width. or if you can find one, go with the dana 60, you will not break them with a dak.
