Subject: 15.85 best E.T. IP: Logged
Message: 2002 Quad w/ 4.7L auto. 3 inch Flows, K & N filter, and 295/50R15 tires. Only manage a 15.85 E.T. @ 85mph. Suggestions?? Other 4.7 owners with genuine timeslips, not guesses. I race every other weekend faithfully. Have reached fourth place twice, which pays money!!

Message: Suggestions for what? If you want more performance, HO intake manifold and cams, high flow cat or cat removal. Making the exhaust flow freely is key in the 4.7. Still kinda on the fence about the TBs a true 68mm should flow about as much as this engine could handle. A 70 might be a good thing though.
Is this bracket racing you are talking about?
The good ol' G-tech says 14.8 at 3000 feet for me. Take that with a grain of salt though.

Message: Yes, I'm bracket racing and always seem to do quite well. I'm in Louisiana and barely above sea level. I only had one cat to begin with and now its gone. Straight pipes with Flows then tailpipes. I haven't heard a single person say that the intake was worth the swap. But the cams on the other hand are an excellent idea. I have researched them and want them. But I'm a Ford tech and have never placed a hand on any Dodge engine, let alone a brand new 4.7L. A little nervous. Have to leave the line at idle or will smoke the tires. If I could get some traction I would be able to leave at around 2 or 3 grand.

Message: It would be border line with the auto as you can't make them shift anymore than about 5200. The difference at 5500 is much better as far as being able to rev it up there. Doubt you will see much for peak. A good thing if you plan on more mods.

Message: leave at 2000, but ease into the gas. its
worked for me, I hit the 1/8th at 9.8's I dont
know what that will be in the 1/4, but I will find
on sat 17th...first time in the 1/4. and run
about 12psi in the tires. (grips much better,
especially if you have the stock rubber)

Message: Do you know of any body that has some 1/4 mile times in colorado? I have a 2001 reg cab 4x4 4.7L w/ homemade intake, flowmaster muffler and I ran a 16.9 a couple months ago at the track. Is this decent considering the elevation.

Message: It was at Bandimere, so the elevation was 5,800 feet above sea level, it was also about 90 degrees the day I ran it.
