Message: I just want to change my muffler to a flowmaster muffler. And I was curious, if it will be a pain in thr ass to pull off the factory muffler..I know they don't weld the muffler or pipes..they use clamps..but i'm just curious if anyone knows if it will be easy or not to hard...I'm just changing the muffler for a better sounding exhaust..Thanks

Message: i had a flow put on my 4.7 with turndows coming off of it for like a $105 at a professional muffler shop. Just let them do it for you it will last a lot longer. I had the glass pack taken off my truck for the flow and it sounds a lot better. Also, you get a better sound without the echos.

Message: it is a real pain in the ass to separate the pipes. DC uses impact tools for the clamps, they crush the pipes together. i had to use a cut-off wheel to cut the pipe lengthwise then pry the lips open to separate the pipes. keep in mind this is while lying on my back in a pool of sweat. just a thought.

Message: I installed a Gibson split rear exhaust on my 02 extented cab 4.7l. The tailpipe came right off when I removed the clamp. The inlet side was a little tough to remove due to the fact that there is an alignment pin on the top of the pipe, and you can't spin the muffler around. I heated the pipe with a torch, and it came right out.

Message: It was dark, wet, windy, and about 20 degrees without windchill when I did my exhaust. I didnt' notice those pressed pipes, which would have saved me a lot of time. These do not pull apart, at least not very easy. You just cut them and you wont have a problem. It's pretty spacious under there and easy to work around. If it's just the muffler you are changing, it should be pretty simple.
However, I think the stock hanger is attached to the muffler. If your Flowmaster does not have one, you are going to need to go get one. I reccomend the heavy duty universal hangers from somewhere like NAPA. You just put them under the clamp and bend the top part with a vice to put a bolt through to the body (they're already there).

Message: I swapped out the stock muffler for a flowmaster 30 series and It took me about an hour and a half, because I had to slice the ends of the stock muffler just to get it off. But in the end it sounds great.
