I talked with Steve in Sales/Tech today at Kenne Bell. He said he could not sell me a kit for my 00 Dakota 4.7 5-spd, because they don't have any R&D done on the 5-spd, and they don't have the Optimizer computer programmed for the 5-spd in the kit???????
4.7 Dakman on moparchat has got one on his?????
What's going on? I'm ready to go, and I can't get it.......
Does anybody know how to get in touch with 4.7 DAKMAN?
I need to know who his contact was.
Steve told me it would be 3 months before they could put it on the board to test........I don't feel like waiting that long.

Signman is 4.7 DAKMAN on moparchat I believe. It's a 4X4 Club cab 2000 intense blue with white racing stripes.
This SUX!!!
I'm waiting on his reply, so I can find out who I need to contact...
I know they have to have something....
He told me he pulled their records, and showed no sales on a 4.7 5-spd....
Signman or 4.7 DAKMAN has had his for over a year now, so he might have been dealing with some of the "old school" techs down there.
Whatever the case.... THIS BLOWS!

4.7 Dakman got one of the very first production models and didn't even get a complete installation manual from what I've read. KB may not recognize that as a legitimate sale, but I really can't imagine how much different the optimizer configuration could be for the 5-spd. It's not like there's tranny inputs or anything like that.
I'm also pretty sure that 4.7 Dakman is not the only 5-spd 4.7 with the KB installed. I just can't think of who else I've read about....

It seems it would be easier to program the Optimizer for the 5-spd than the auto.

You should talk to someone else at kenne bell.
I sent you an email with a pic of the info they send out for the 4.7L kit. Look at the lower right hand corner. It lists the 4.7L manual. The file is about 650K.
I have a manual and plan on getting a kenne bell after taxes.

I also have a 2000 dak but I was not looking to S/C for a couple years. However you should give give Kennedy Dynotune a call in NY to ask them about the 5-speed. They do a ton with the KB stuff. Ask for Bob Kennedy. I talked to him last week about TB questions and found out he is an athority on KB as well. http://www.kennedysdynotune.com/

What kind of times are they getting 1/4 mile wise?
I know DAKMAN runs 14.50-14.60's but he's in a club cab 4X4. That's pretty stout over stock times, and that was his first trip out to a track.
Will I be the first with the KB on a regular cab 4X2 with 3:92's?
....I guess I'll have to see for myself what the 1/4 times are....
I'll keep everybody posted when then install is completed, then when I make it to the track.
I am going to dyno test it after install. Baseline and (air/fuel)

Kenne Bell is not answering the phone...
I called Jason at superchargersonline.com.
They don't want to sell the kit until they can talk to Jim Bell.....When is that going to be?????? I let him know that others were running the superchargers with the 5-spd. He said he was pretty sure the computer in the 5-spd truck just wouldn't read the settings in the Optimizer that is programmed for the autos....
But he has to be sure. He called and talked to a KB tech while I was on the phone. The tech guy said it could work, but they haven't done any testing on the 5-spd themselves. SCREW R&D! We've got 3 or more people out here who have done their work for them. The R&D is done. 18,000 miles on DAKMAN's truck with no problems.
I may be getting a freaking PAXTON.

400Bucks I would hate to pay taxes where you live. Everything is 6% here, which would be another 233bucks....
You might be able to work something out with them.

I got mine at souperchargers on line too. YES, I had to pay tax. They did take a hundred dollars off the kit price, big deal. (but I'm not complaining!). They're in burbank, 4112 Vanowen Place.

No, you gotta go positive displacement! I sent an email the day I read this, but I havn't recieved a response. Hey, since a couple of us are looking to get the same supercharger? Think a group buy would work out? Kinda rare for something as large and expensive as a supercharger, but if it's cheaper than usual I'm game.

I still think the paxton is a better match to the 4.7. The 4.7 likes to rev. You could set the paxton to 9lbs and not have the problem as with the KB because it doesn't make 9lbs at such a low RPM. Traction would be a major concern as well with the KB. Not a problem with the paxton.

Well.......
The day is over with now, Kenne Bell has lost a customer. I hate it...but considering all things between the Kenne Bell and the Paxton, I believe I would be happy with the Paxton.
CW...I agree on the traction/boost issue. Another thing to look at...Paxton is more up-gradeable. The Novi-1000 kits have been around for a while, and are race proven. The Stock pistons concern me with 9# of boost though.....Have you heard of anyone doing this?
I talked with Tom at Speedtweaks today, I believe I'll get in contact with him in the morning, to go ahead and get the kit.
I wish someone could give me Dyno sheets (air/Fuel ratios) on the Paxton....Track times??
Anybody know of any web-sites?

There are guys running 9lbs on the 5.9 and they have the ping prone iron heads. Back off the timing a little and I would think it would be good. I am no expert when it comes to boosting though. See what Tom says.

another vote for the paxton (actually, anything but the kb).
If you can't get anyone who knows thier arse from a bearing, how could you possibly deal with any type of error in the kit? Like a missing part, the sale transaction etc.
I've delt with kb and it sucks. If you want to talk to tech its going to take a few hours to get through. Then they blame you for any problem.

Good news for people who do want the Kenne Bell, and won't settle for anything else.
Jason with superchargersonline called me back last night after talking with Jim Bell at Kenne Bell. He said that they could sell the kits for the 5-spds, however....
You will need to send in your truck's computer to have it reprogrammed to work with the kit. Expect to wait about a week for the process though.
But....They "will" do it.
A little too late though....Bought the Paxton yesterday afternoon.

I don't believe there would be....I would imagine only the first couple of people who buy the kit would need to do it, after that they could make a newly formatted program for the Optimizer for use on the 5-spd.
Give'em a call....When you get a hold of them, they are real nice. They would be able to tell you more. Jason at superchargersonline was also very helpful. I'm just too impatient.

I bought my kb last year (dec 01) and installed it on my 01 4.7 5spd short bed w3.92 reg cab. truck runs absolutely aweswome without sending in computer and having optimizerI. I even have their 10psi pulley and run it w/unleaded race fuel at the track with no pinging. only recommondation is send fact. computer to kb to move up speed limit to 135 because at 115mph its a fuel cut and i cooked my number 1 cylinder. put in another short block and had headwork done now truck cant flow needed fuel at wide open. going to try Apexi AFC to fix issue. My truck can be seen on Maine-street.com
