Message: i have a 85 oldsmobile regency; I just had a transmission from a "87" oldsmobile regency put into the 85. When the transmssion was in the "87" it shifted "perfect"(no slipping/no nothing). After having it put in the "85". When going from 2nd to 3rd gear it "jerks" or "jumps" as it goes from 2nd to 3rd. Also, I noticed that when "taking off" it "hesistates" before the car moves. However, the transmission is not "slipping" it just hesistates. The man that put it in is "NOT" a tranmission specialist. Any ideas on the problem?....Again, in the "87" it transistioned from gears "smoothly" please give me your input on the problem. Thanks

Message: The delay in the tranny shifting INTO gear.. is the Tranny pump... my Dod ge mechanic says it is a problem with these tranny's..so, needless to say, with only 1,800 miles on my 2004, I identified the problem, as they did and now the tranny pump is being replaced... I guess it is a common thing.....but, they are nto telling people..so heads up... delay in the tranny engaging into gear, IS the tranny pump failing....it is my understanding this has been a problem for several years... so, if they know this, then why in the &^#$ would they keep installing them.....well, maybe it is to bring customers back for repairs nand more $$ for their service departments....more people need to use this site...

Message: My Daughter has a 1996 Dakota V8 4x4 and the tranny does not shift into overdrive Several people and shops say it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I have been told they made this transmission for only one year on this particular truck. The two quotes i have gotten are both over 3000 dollars. Does anyone out there have a good used one i could purchase? We have allready tried changing the oil and filter and this didn't work. I am trying to help her on a low fixed income.

Message: I have a 2004 V8 Dodge Dakota 4x4 four door. I have had problems with the transmission since I got it. I only have 7000 miles on it. It hesitates when its cold but the real problem is when it shifts into 2 or 3rd it jerks. I was going 55mph down the highway and thought I would get whiplash when it shifted. This is an intermittent problem. When I took it to the dealer I was told there is nothing wrong and the computer just has to get use to the way I drive the truck. Help, I just keep getting the run around. I am not happy with the performance of this truck and I am ready to trade it in on a Chevy Pick up. Can you give me any ideas of what the problem is.
Thank You,
John

Message: Gary, I would first check the fluid, then check all my adjustments. Throttle cable mainly. Throttle cable adjustments will affect shift quality greatly. As long as all of the sensors and harnesses are the same...I can't see it being a huge problem, then again the guy isn't a tranny guy.

Message: Hey,
Well I am the proud owner of a dakota that won't shift out of 1st gear. Have looked at many transmission shops and the dealer and they all quoted me $2500 for a transmission rebuild. But for an extra $500 I can get a remanufactured one for $3000 by Jasper. Should have it finished by 10-21-05.

Message: I have a 2000 RC 4.7 and had to have a tranny pulled from the line and installed in my truck by a chrysler engineer at 140 (one hundred and forty) miles after it would not shift out of 3rd gear. It would also make the motor almost stall causing the computer to over compensate and bring the revs up to 1500 to 2000 rpm at stoplights. The reason was low fluid pressure caused by a fluid vein being restricted.
