Subject: ho conversion and higher octane IP: Logged
Message: Why does the HO 4.7 require atleast 91 octane, does it have anything to do with the cams, is it just the higher compression, or everything together? Considering the cams but dont want to have to always run 91...

Message: I have had my HO cams in for 1500 miles now and have had no problems with 87 octane. This is the first I have heard of having to run higher octane. Does this change if you do the manifold as well?

Message: You don't have to run higher octane with the HO parts unless you added the HO pistons and have a computer flash. Otherwise, 87 octane is fine.
