Message: I've always loved the sound of 2-chamber flowmaster on a mustang 5.0. I had a 2 chamber on my old 351 F-150 and it was sweet. I know the mustangs have dual exhaust and all but I was wondering if the flowmaster or magnaflow sounded like that on a dodge. Any thoughts?

Message: I'll let you all know this afternoon .. my 4.7L is in the shop getting the muffler on and dual tailpipes out the back :)
One thing to note, you're not going to gain much, if any HP with that damned 2 1/4" Y-Pipe in front of the cat. What I wanted the muffler shop to do was replace the 2 1/4" pipe with 3" (still retaining the initial part of the 'Y') but I can't afford it right now cause apparently it's a lot of custom work and that costs $.
I plan on replacing that after getting a high flow cat. Until then, the only thing I'm expecting from the cat back is sound.
Johnny,
I had that sound when I had a 5.0L Mustang and eliminated it by plugging up and removing the air pump ... I'm pretty sure the Daks don't have air pumps though I could be wrong. I've also noticed that sound (very faint and muffled) just from the stock exhaust. I'm not sure if its something we have to live with or not ... Anyone else?

Message: I'm running the 5x11 oval body (aluminum) 3" center in / offset out (model #12589).
They have several models available, check them out at www.magnaflow.com
The 5"x11" oval body MagnaFlow was designed for Trucks, SUV's and RV's with larger engine displacements. You can get a smaller one that will be louder but will not sacrifice flow.

3" duals is a little big for the 4.7 though ... it was a little big for the Stang even.

Message: Well I just got my flowmaster 40 series on there ... after much humming and hawwing with the muffler shop (they didn't do a very good job the first time around) ... the results:
Sounds awesome!
Whoever said the flowmaster 40 series is too loud is too old!
Its nothing compared to some of the Mustangs and Chevy pick-ups running around here. I can barely hear it at idle.
There's that annoying gurgling sound that johnny was mentioning, but I think that can't be helped with the 4.7 (like I said, I heard it with the stock exhaust).
No noticable power difference, as I expected, but like I said earlier, the stock y-pipe is still in front of the cat choking the flow.

Message: I have a 50 series w/ delta flow, 2.5 single both in and out. I love the sound. Sounds like a race car when I want it to, quiet when I don't. Turns heads because it's different... unlike those dual exhaust trucks that have that deep booming sound.

Message: When my exhaust shop first did my dual exhaust I had the 40 series single in dual out taken off and they said they made a 40 series dual in dual out for true duals and I got it on there (which turned out to be a 50 series) I could barely hear the truck at all. I took it back when they realized they accidentally put on a 50 series. So they took it off and put 2 40 series on and there was a big difference.

Message: I have the Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow Force II System and its not 2.5 in and out its 3'' all the way from the back of the muffler to the single rear exit and maybe infront somewhat to?? Cant remember right off? I know for a fact its 3 from the back of the muffler to the rear single exit cause I had to order a special 3'' tip and have it spread out to even go over the exit. It sounds really good!!! I get compliments everywhere I go. Its very different sounding and no droning what so ever from the Delta Flow 50 Series. Its hardly noticable at Idel ,(or in the ab anytime), but can be moderatly loud at WOT outside. Sounds good with the addition of my Airaid intake.

Excellent rumble, and you now I'm there when I floor it. No droning, that I've noticed,,,to the point of irratating resonance in the cab. Has a great 'pop' to it when you get off the gas too.
Have the single in/ dual out,,going out duals in the rear.
Love it!

I have the Force II 3" cat back system. I love the way it sounds. You can barely hear it going down the highway, but when you give it some throttle, it sounds really good. The system came with a 2.5" inlet and 3" outlet 50 series. Sorry I don't have any sound clips.
