Subject: y-pipe/converter IP: Logged
Message: my catalytic converter is making one hell of a racket. It sounds as if the entire catalyst is loose inside the case rattling back and forth. At idle I can't hear it but the higher the rpm the louder and faster the rattle. I want to replace the cat with a high flow unit and at the same time replace the puny y-pipe with something better. Are there any companies out there that offer such a combo? or should I just buy a cat and have the y-pipe custom bent? I hope there are companies that do that because the places I've asked in the area would only replace the cat, the y-pipe was out of the question.
help!

Message: I havent seen any companies that make aftermarket y-pipes. What you should do is buy header kit from Edlebrock or any other exhasut company. This kit comes with headers and a new y-pipe. Your cat is dying, i would just completly remove it. I dont believe in cats. Your truck will sound unbelievable if you already have a performance exhaust system on it, with the headers and cat taken out!

Message: I've been looking for a new y-pipe for me 01 for along time, with no luck. When i bought my jba headers they didnt come with a y-pipe because i have 2 pre-cats. What i want to do is remove the 2 pre-cats and install a new (and longer) y-pipe. Most people take the cats out for performance, i just wanna take all my cats out for sound. Hey i like it loud. :) Does anyone know where to get a y-pipe? Would the 00 pipe (before the precats) work?
