Subject: Auto-Shifting IP: Logged
Message: I drive an 02 quad with the 4.7 . I was wondering if it would be bad for the transmission to drive in 1, and 2, and drive gears. Start out in 1, then shift to 2, then to drive. Just a beginner asking a question, please dont bash me.
Thanks

Message: Assuming you haven't changed the tranny fluid it would probably put more of a strain on the fluid (heat it up) since you would probably bump up the RPM's before each shift when compared to the trans doing it automatically. Hopefully Sandman will respond with some good info for you, he is pretty knowledgable.

Message: I thought long shifts add to the heat in a trans? when I shift mine at a higher rpm, (than the normal shift pattern) it has a harder shift, and the clutches don't heat up as much. (just a thought though)

Message: Not necessarly a race, just toolin around town. I found out you can get up speed faster driving like this, and if you wanna tool around town you can get the extra edge on the car next to you.
