does anyone know why kenne bell recomends a 160 degree theromstat for our trucks with use of the optimizer 2? i thought this would cause a check engine light.

They probably get pretty aggressive with the timing. They may want the engine to run cooler to avoid knock.

dont know about your total set up but i installed th KB S/C and optimizer 2 that came with it and the 160 therm. i got so tired of clearing the check engine light for it running too cold that i put the 195 back in (2003 4.7) and it still runs perfect. the only difference is the cooling fan runs all the time after about 180dgrs. dont even notice it. the temp stays at about 180-185 in the motor. you would figure that if they were reprogramming the computer they would have set it up that the code fault wouldnt occur since they do the stock one also. its also impossible to get a decent answer or any answer back from kenne bell since i feel they dont really care about the customer after the sale. believe me,ive sent about 20 e-mails on this issue and no response.

dam that sucks. i emailed them about the thermostat and they never responded. i favor their supercharger over all the others but if theyre gonna be dicks then im just not gonna buy from them.

Kennedy's Dyno Tuning in NY sells KB s/c's. If you buy through them, you can use them for tech support. They seem pretty knowledgable about KB products on Dakotas. Maybe you can get some help from them.
