Subject: Coolant Mix? IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys, I just installed a 180 deg T-Stat the other day and while doing so I lost alot of coolant. When The T-stat was installed I filled the radiator back up with straight water then added a bottle of water wetter and also a bottle of anti-rust radiator fluid made by GUNK(looks like milk). The temp now reads alot cooler than before, so the new T-stat is doing its job.
Now my concern is with the correct coolant mix
Should I have added back the appropriate mix of coolant and water? Or is it alright to run the mix I got now? Any info is appreciated...

Message: You should have added some anti freeze more than the water. buy a tester and check to see where your anti freeze level falls into. Ask a auto parts store for the anti freeze checker.

Message: You should be fine. The Water Wetter actually made my temperature gauge drop. I was amazed. Maybe you have the same benefit from it.

Message: I recently changed my thermostat to a 180 and poured a bottle of water wetter into the stock mix ratio. What a difference! I wish I didn’t have to worry about it getting so cold in the winter or I would just fill the radiator with 2 bottles of water wetter and the rest water. Since water dissipates heat faster then antifreeze and water wetter dissipates heat faster than water you will be running nice and cool. Just be careful when it starts to get cold because you will freeze up pretty fast and that will be expensive.
