Subject: question, please help IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 5.2L 4x4 with 40000 miles on it, and i noticed that when I drive at a constant speed anywhere between 40 and 80mph that my engine "surges". By "surges" I mean that the RPM's jump 100-200 for a second or two then go back to how it was. It does this randomly. I havent noticed if it does it above or below those speeds because i do mostly highway miles. If anyone has an idea on what it is please post a message. Cause it is driving me nuts. Thanks in advance. -Greg

Message: I just bought a 2000 QC with a 5.9L. It only had 1 new plug wire. Others did not look that great but not that bad. How much of a power loss can occur cuz of this? I put new Bosch +4's & a K&N Filter. I previously had 98 XC with a 5.2L. That was a ton faster. Both were 4X4's. 2000 is having trouble even breaking the tires loose around tight corners with the petal mashed. What should the comparison be between vehicles or possible problems be? Thanks for your imput!

Message: I looked on the web for common effects of a Bad PCV Valve and my truck does idle rough. Do anyone know a plus or minus price to have a shop do it. It sounds a little to involved for me.

Message: The PCV valve is an easy do-it-yourself fix. It is the plastic 90' elbow coming out of the (should be) right valve cover (standing in front of the vehicle).
It takes about 2 seconds to pull the hose off of it and pull it out of the valve cover then stick the new one in and reconnect the hose. All done!

Message: tried the "on off on off on" thing and it did nothing. Next, i tried holding the trip button while off and then turned the ignition on. It did all sorts of neat things on the dash but then the odometer went back to the mileage reading with out saying anything. Any other ideas? Sorry everyone, I am a 19 year old college student working fulltime and going to school full time, trying to pay for this truck, so i cant afford a dealership visit unless absolutly nessasary. So any help is much appreciated. -Greg
