 Subject: Fastest way to blow a 5.9

I have a 2001 R/T SC, I am having some trouble with it, not shifting somtimes. And i want to just blow the motor for i can just get everything looked at once.. Get new parts and not for them just to adjust some stuff and say there nothing wrong with it. Its under warranty so whats the fastest way to blow the motor? but they can not tell you did it on purpose.

Put just 1 qt of oil in it. Then when it blows add 4 qts so they dont know

Running it short of oil will just damage the
bearings and still not make it actually blow up.
If they can't find the actual cause of the blown
engine they will assume that it was Nitrous and
not cover it anyway. I think I'd take the squeeky
wheel gets the grease way of getting it fixed.
Get ahold of the general manager at the dealership
and complain, complain, complain until something
happens that makes you happy

come one there has to be a simple way.. i been droping it in to 2nd gear on the highway, and 1st and romping on it.?? is there any way they can read the computer to see what RPM's you were going and what gear.. this motor will not blow..

sit it in park running low on oil and put a rock or something on the pedal. It may take a while, that or try running without a thermostat for a while.

i did that for somtime. but the cops came..told me to stop. my truck is pretty loud. with the ehuast system .. I been wasting so much gas doing this.. Bout to just put nothing but WD40 in the gas tank

I guess I don't get it yet..... if the
transmission isn't shifting correctly - why do you
want to blow the engine? Even if you do blow the
engine, you will still have the same transmission
that wasn't shifting correctly in the first place.
Are you sure you don't just want the transmission
fixed or replaced?

strap some C-4 to the manifold.. that will do the trick!... if you really did this stuff, i dont feel bad about the way i have been treating my truck, and i dont have anything to worry about...thanks!

well i been troughing it in low gears going high speeds. soo there for it will effect the trans and the engine.. .. i have taken it to the dealership,, they take 4 hours with it.. still not fixed.. they told me not to come back until there is somthing really wrong with it.. and i will show them.. i getting a run around for months now

Good luck!! I had a Chrysler LeBaron years ago (go ahead, slam me for this one, but I was just out of high school) with the tried and true 318 in it. Got to the point where i HATED that car for obvious reasons. Like yourself, I decided one day I was going to destroy it. The radiator had several holes in it and it had already started to overheat. I got out on the main drag in my neighborhood, dropped it into low and floored it. I drove it at WOT up and down the street for about 45 minutes, screaming and blowing steam all the way until she finally made this horrendous noise and locked up. Proud of my accomplishment, I got my stuff out and walked home. Went back about two hours later to confirm it was dead and to my ultimate disappointment THE BASTARD STARTED!! Not only drove it home, but I drove it for another 6 months before I traded it. Try THAT with a Chevy or Ford engine!! As I said, good luck. And yes, without a scantool to clear codes the dealer will know every last operating parameter (RPM, temps, etc...)

I know my friend had a race car with the engine from a pontiac grand prix in it, he managed to blow it up by leaving it in neutral, tying a long rope to the throttle cable and holding it at about 8,000 RPM's for a few minutes. That made one heck of a boom. I don't think it was pump gas though, if that makes any difference.
Maybe you could try totally blocking the air intake, i know my old ford probe would suck a greasy rag right right in.

Man you gota be one dum retard,just WTF is wrong with it,you say it doesnt shift,downshift or what? Anyways you wanna kill it eh,first go get a bag of silica bead blasting sand and then go to the dealer and have them service it,have them do a tuneup and oil change,go around the block and loosen the oil filter and stick a fistfull of silica down the throtle body and drive the piss out of it.

You guys are awful... I couldnt blow a motor reguardless the circumstances. I'd feel like im commiting animal cruelty. I dont even think I could bring myself to blow up a rice rocket even though there not really my favorite vehicles. Of course it would probably blow reguardless... but still you get my point :P.

Another good way would be to hook up a fogger nozzle and run the fattest N20 jet you can find and use no fuel enrichment. Another good way would be to remove 2 rockers , pushrods , and pull out a pair of roller lifters with a magnet , bolt the rockers back on real loose and fire it up , the hemoraging of oil inside the motor and no oil pressure should kill it pretty quick.

it needs killin'?
Unless you just like buying engines - I don't
recommend TRYING to blow it up.
If you're trying to produce an rpm related failure
because the transmission isn't shifting correctly
- good luck! The engines are severely limited
just for that reason. Unless there is actually
something wrong with it that will cause it to fail
on it's own, there's almost nothing you will be
able to do to it that the dealer won't find or
construe as negligence or abuse.

This sounds like a perfect waste of a good torquey engine and you should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to destroy such a fine piece of work. I could understand if you wanted to blow up one of those stupid, no pushrod having, torque lacking, foreigner designed 4.7 hunks of junk. Ruining one of those things would be doing everyone a favor. I just can't figure out why anybody would want to hurt the awesome and beloved 360.
If I wanted to hurt an engine, I would use Farmer's Nawwss. Have you ever heard an engine fire up when you use starting fluid? Holey BeJesus does it make an engine rev fast. It's almost painful to listen to, but I bet it makes lots of torque when it does that.
Go down to Napa or Tractor Supply and buy yourself a can of starting fluid (ether). Pull your airfilter lid off and get somebody to hold the throttle all the way down with it running while you spray the starting fluid into the hose leading to the throttle body. It should make a very loud bang and you will have at least one broken piston if not more. If it breaks well enough you might even be able to bend a rod or two if the piston fraggs bad enough. Then put the airfilter lid back on and pretend that you don't know what happened.
Just remember one thing. TORQUE RULES!

Man torquemonster, you sound just like a bratty little kid that has an inferior toy. You know the other kids toy is better, but because it is not your toy and you don't have one you are going to rant and rave about how yours is better. It is kinda funny that when I raced a 5.9 in the 1/4 mile 8 times, we were only .2 seconds apart consistantly. We also mutually agreed that where he got me was in the soft shifts of the 45 rfe tranny. Everytime mine shifted he jumped ahead a tiny bit. I guess I will just have to sleep with the knowledge that my 4.7 will last 4 times as long as that 5.9. Now maybe I will go change my cap, rotor, and plug wires. NOT.

Didn't you hear? The new 2002 4.7 motors don't have pushrods OR connecting rods. It's just a bunch of metal hunks floating in thick fluid around the crankshaft!!

The best thing is to get real sqeaky at a dealer ship, another one not the one you went to the first time. I would also talk a lot of stuff about the other one that you went to first and maybe add in to the service tech that you heard they was the best compaired to the other shop. Woman will tell you flatery will get you every where. No grown man is going to be out done or not live up to a large reputation.

I say put some NOS in it and spary it on a mis-shift and bang!!! motor is gone!!. Take out the NOS and go to the shop with your R/T on a tow truck and say here.. take this *&*^*^&*%&*& and FIX IT!!!
