Message: I use the Autolites 3923's, and am quite happy with their overall performance. Have you checked what your plugs are gapped at? Mine were all off (measuring from .044-.045). It's not a lot off, but it was enough to reduce my fuel mileage (until I replaced them, that is).

Message: what is the optimum gapping for the 4.7L? I've heard .035" for S/C and .040" for non-forced induction ... does that sound about right?

You will find first rate performance and excellent drivabilty when you use Autolite sparkplugs in your rig. Imagine a fast sure start when you turn on the ignition. Visualize smooth steady getaway from traffic lights. Smile when you can pass more gasoline stations than ever before.
Imagine all this and more you can have when you make the switch to Autolite sparkplugs.
From bumper to tailight, you are always right with Autolite!

Message: i got the impression that the 3923's were a range colder for the 3924's - a stock replacement for some year models of the 5.2/5.9 engines. the listed stock replacement for the 4.7 is the 5224. there are enough differences in the 3923 and 5224 that i'll stick with the 5224 unless i really need the colder range plug.
btw, the 5223 is nowhere to be found. i've found references to it online, but no place to actually buy them.

Message: 3923's work great. I've had them in for 2 months with no problems. I've gotten better gas mileage and a better idle than with the Champions that came from the factory. Of course, it might have been the fact that the plugs from teh factory were gapped too wide...
