Yeah, shoe-ey I knew that Mopar owned Lambo when they developed that engine.

What I am asking you is not whether Mercedes GAVE the engine to Chrysler.

I am asking you if it is REMOTELY possible that if Dodge decided that when they wanted to release and all new engine casting that would be like NO OTHER engine they HAD EVER designed, is it even REMOTELY possible that they may have drawn up a CONTRACT with DODGE as the OWNER/CLIENT and MERCEDES as the CONSULTANT/ENGINEER and SUBCONTRACTED out the engine design?

Is that remotely possible?

Or are you absolutely 100% proof-positive sure that nobody at Dodge ever sent a single drawing or electronic file out of the Dodge engineering headquarters building to anyone even remotely employed by anyone other than Dodge itself? What if someone on the staff of 100% American Dodge Engineers USED to work for Mercedes Benz?

Holy Crap...... it's pretty easy to push your buttons, there, isn't it Dan Cuda? Does everyone in West Virginia/Ohio act as irrational and short-fused as you? Ddue, are the neighborhood kids scared to come into your yard to pick up the ball they hit over there?

I think if I was a kid and I lived in West Ohio Virginia I'd be pretty scared of you. You might beat my ass just for walking on your lawn just to get my ball.......

Wow.

So you mean to tell me that Daimler and Chrysler sat down in between Summer of 1998 (when the 4.7 was released) and November 17 of 1998 (!!!!) when the merger occurred and just decided to "Turn this mother out!" I think a little more planning went into it than that. Four months worth of talking about "financial stuff" to settle a $35 Billion deal? I bet they were talking back & forth about a few things here & there for a little longer than 4 months. I also think that they had been working together for long enough to work out the details of the new Daimler-based Jeep motor to insure that it would work in the all-new Cherokee package. But rather than wait until the 1999 year model, they sort of released it as a 1998 "American-Built" Jeep with all new "American (metric) Technology." Then the buy-out went PUBLIC in Nov of 1998.

But overall, you still haven't proven to me that there's absolutely no way that Mercedes could've designed this motor. You've just established some vague timeline that helps you believe that this motor is all American.

Prove to us that Mercedes had nothing to do with this motor.

DO THE RESERCH (sp)!!!

Second seat, go Dutch treat, you were sweet.
Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen,

How you tore your dress, what a mess, I confess, that's not all.
Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen,
Thank you for walks down Lover's Lane,
I can see, hearts carved on a tree,
Letters intertwine, for all time, yours and mine, that was fine.
Danke schien, darling, danke schoen,
Thank you for seeing me again.

Cuda,
Once again you are exibiting your own true ignorance. Let me correct myself, STUPIDITY. All of us are ignorant in some form or fashion, as it it merely a lack of knowledge. STUPID, as you are, is the inability to learn. WHITETRASH, as you also are, has nothing to do with one's income level. STUPID WHITETRASH, as you most definitely are, can make a ton of money, live in affluent neighborhoods, have a collection of cars, a wife, a litter of kids, etc... and will still remain nothing but STUPID WHITETRASH!!

1) You have no data to back your stupid opinions with besides a couple of dates.
2) You misread the article, another indication of your STUPIDITY. It clearly stated gas and diesel engines, with the following sentence referring to the DIESEL market in BELGIUM. If Chrysler wants to sell gas powered vehicles in Europe, they are going to have to use a name like Benz to do so.
3) Furthermore, being an employee of a OE supplier to DCX for more than 20 years, I've seen things YEARS before any idiot like you has seen in crappy corner store magazines.
4) It is a publicly known fact that Daimler, as owner of Chrysler and Mercedes, is driving to globally commonize parts across all platforms where feasible. Does this make sense to you??

So 'Shoe, keep living in your little imaginary world of what you want to believe, the rest of us will continue to advance with society and technology while enjoying a healthy portion of kraut on our plates.

Good riddance,
Wally

Look folks... I saw this Dak with my own eyes and I touched it with my hands...IT EXISTS! It is BLACK with GOLD lettering. (right down to the SPORT on the doors and the MB symbol on the tailgate)

I am NOT suggesting this is the DC 4.7L. I know it is 100% US designed and built in the MACK engine plant.

I do know that Chrysler has a history of producing limited runs of "special" vehicles. The Shadow VNT (VariableNozzleTurbocharger) is an example. My friend has one of 10 that came from the factory with NO AC. It currently dynos at over 320 FrontWheelHorsePower!

Given this, why would folks doubt that this Dakota exists? I felt that the more knowledgable readers of these forums would like to be aware of this Dakota and perhaps discuss if they have seen others like it.

There is no reason to be rude. Just because you may not agree with somone does not mean they are wrong. I have EXTENSIVE experience with internal-combustion engines, Mechanics, Physics, Engineering, Electronics and several other disciplines and you have NO idea of my skills in these areas. You make only YOURSELF look silly with your feable ramblings with no FACTS to back them up. Sure, there may differing opionins from mine and even from yours... But you will not see me attacking others personally because of this.

Well folks, gutten tag!! I'm back at work now, and I see that i was mistaken on the Michigan address of where my last vehicle was built. Sorry, there graphite, you win. It was Warren, and not Hammtramck.

As for you cooter-shoo, you really have proven nothing so far, other than this one fact:

By your silly timeline, you have proven that Daimler didn't own Chrysler when the 4.7 was released. That's all you have proven.

That fact has nothing to do with whether this engine is 100% American or not.

It could be French for all we know. You ask us to stick to the facts, but you are coming up short on facts here, yourself.

But I think we should continue this arguement all day.

Chrysler Group invested more than $7.5 billion in new powertrains during the last several years. This includes a new line of multi-valve passenger car engines, as well as a new family of SUV and truck engines — the 3.7-liter V6, 4.7-liter V8 and class-leading 5.7-liter HEMI(R) Magnum engine, to debut this fall on the all-new 2003 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck.

The Mercedes-Benz W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission will be built at the Chrysler's Indiana Transmission Assembly Plant starting in 2004 for use in selected Chrysler Group vehicles. DaimlerChrysler announced this program in late 2000 as one of the first component-sharing programs of the 1998 merger between the former Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz AG.

I am NOT debating whether or not the 4.7 is American or not...I am just stating for the record that two biggie dealerships here in the 4th largest city in the USA are "saying" that the 4.7 is literally a Mercedes engine.

Are they right? I dunno and I don't have an answer, we all know how dealerships will lie like a mother to make a sale, but my point is that they ARE "pushing it" as a Mercedes designed engine!

Car dealers are about as honest as Bill Clinton...but I wonder who is telling them to push the 4.7 as a Mercedes engine? If the 4.7 is not Mercedes-inspired...they're practicising dishonest trade practices and this is an outright deception to their customers...right?

(I don't care whether is IS or not, when you really get down to it...just telling you MY experience so far!)
