 Subject: putting in a water pump

yeah i'm putting a water pump in my 5.2 adn i read somwhere on here that i need to remove my thermostat and put in a new one or the air would blow it open.....is this true...adn i looked for my thermostat and i dotn know where its at so can anyone help me out

I dont know whether thats true or not however I would go ahead and replace it anyways its only 5-6 bucks. Anyways to locate the thermostat follow your upper radiator hose down to the intake manifold there is 2 bolts unbolt those and the hose will come off your thermostat is the thing right under the hose you can pull that right out.
