Message: OK, i have a 2000 4.7 dakota sport 4x4. It has about 62k on it and a fairly good amount of work done to it. Looks great and runs great. I went to the dealership and looked at a 2000 r/t with 59k on it and nothing done to it , basiclly stock but in tip top condition. should i go for the trade or not. i know id be getting a little bit more hp but is it worth trading in a dakota that has work done to it and looks good for an rt.

Message: Seems to me you are not Gaining here, Lose you are, why give up a nice 4x4 for a Rt with close to same mileage, the 4x4 is more versitile. and HP is just as close in numbers. You asked I spoke..

Message: Is it an even trade? Are that both CC's? Can you swap out some of the mods on your 4x4 to the R/T? Do you need a 4x4? (I live in Montana and am happy with a R/T for a daily driver). The HP may be close but the torque is what you feel, and the R/T has lots more. There are hundreds of 4.7 auto 4x4 CC Dakotas around here, I drove a bunch of them while Dakota shopping, and none of then had anything on an R/T. For 3 months in the winter I wish for that 4x4 but otherwise the handling, torque and looks the R/T gets is worth a little winter inconvience.

Message: it all depends on what you need / want. it sounds like you don't need a 4x4 or you wouldn't be looking into an R/T. Granted mods aren't cheap, but at least you know the R/T with no mods wasn't hacked up by someone that didn't know what they were doing. Another thing you might want to check into is kelly blue book and see if there selling it at a good price and at the same time giving you a good trade in deal.

Message: 4x4 is defintaly a must here ,but i will be in collage so it doesnt matter , my truck will be covered inside the garage during winters. I talked to the dealership and they told me it would be about 4 to 6 k added on to the payments if i were to get an r/t. I want an r/t because it is much easier to make it custom then my 4x4. None the less the 4x4's look great and are powerful. Also engine mods are alot easier to find for r/t's. i might go for the trade if evrything goes well.
