Message:
HAve a 93 Dakota with the 318 fuel injected.
Check engine light comes on intermittently,
Replaced the o2 sensor still comes on. THe code flashes 3-9-5-5. I understand from the manual that 8-8 is start of test and 8-8 is end.
ANY clues is running a little rough.

I know 55 is the END of your code ( for a '93).

Not sure what a 39 is though.

ken, to check your code you turn your ignition on until you see lights on the dash then turn it off, then back on, then back off, then back on for the third time and watch the check engine light, it will flash, those are your codes.

After I took my 2001 Quad cab dakota in because my transmission went out, about 2 weeks later my engine light came on. I did the code test holding down the trip odometer button and it did the "Check" but came up with no codes. Is there any way to clear the engine light and not take it in to pay the $100 deductable to have them do it?

Engine sounds great and runs great. Even checked my gas cap.

That is a Ford code. Are you sure its that code on a Dodge? If it is that is really strange. Try and retrieve the code again and if it really is P1255 it reads "Pedal Correlation PDS2 and LPDS Low" but that is for a Ford. There is no P1255 for a Dodge.

Most Auto Zone stores will go out to your vehicle and read the codes for free with a scanner.

yep, PeeDee had it right. Take it to an Autozone ( a trick I learned here, I might add), and they'll take THEIR diagnostic out in the lot, tell you what it means, and even help you get the parts to fix it. I had a P 205 code come up, and while they didn't get me the injector, at least I knew what the heck it was.

I have a 2000 Dakota. I got the check engine light and came up with P-0455. I understand the is an evaporative emission leak. Is the gas cap the only place this code corresponds to? If so, would OEM caps be the best replacement or is there a better aftermarket with a longer gasket life? I do have 55,960 miles on it, maybe the original held up well?
