I believe a loose vent line could also set that code. Got a friend you could switch caps with to check it ?

Hi,
The comp keeps the code/alarm active for about 25 starts after the occurrance, whether or not the condition has cleared. By starts, it is not as though the ignition can be turned to on and off, or that the engine can be started, 25 times to clear it. The truck has to be driven somewhat each time. So, it could have been something intermittent or maybe the cap was not on that good one time. The vent in the cap can clog sometimes or get moisture in it, and sometimes the vent mech corrodes. Just wait and see if it happens again is all you can really do.

Checking the code cleared the light. If it doesnt come back, was probably just a loose gas cap.

I have this code on my 2001 Dodge Ram as well as the 455 (large leak). It came on as I was driving the car back from picking it up in Omaha Nebraska. It cam on right outside of Denver. I have reset the ecu a couple times, and it keeps coming back. All the hoses appear to be connected still. And the cap seems to be good (I hate these newer style caps!@#$). Any other recommendations?

try this. turn the ignition on/off/on/off/on(not start) and odometer should display codes in this format PXXX. then it will read Pdone. if it doesn't work drive to your local Auto Zone and they can read the codes for you. if you'd like post back here and we can go from there.

I have a problem with my 2002 dakota that only has 52000 miles on it.My check engine light keeps coming on,I have done the reset and took it to autozone and have them check it.It turned out that is was a vaccum code.I fixed the problem and reset the computer, but my check engine light came back on. Any home grown remedy that you can recommend?

check engine code #12
IP: Logged

Message:
The shop manual shows that code #12 means "standby memory power lost" I assume this has something to do with the computer's power. The main harness connector might have a bad connection. Has anyone had this problem and what was the fix ?

Any codes ? Year ? Motor ? Tranny ?
Are you even talking about the tranny ?
It's the transfer case that has low and high range; although I doubt you are talking about that.

I have a 1998 dodge durango. Check enging light came on with codes 1762 and 1763. Changed transmission oil and filter light went off a day later for about 3 months now. Light just came back on. When starting up from a stop the rpm guage goes up to 3. I let up off the gas and it goes into gear and guage goes back down to 1-2. What would cause this?
