Subject: 5.9/dyno/Truck Trend? IP: Logged
Message: Can any one explain why the RT lost so much power during those dyno runs? The other two trucks were not nearly as bad! I'm getting ready to order a 03 QC/5.9, however, I'm now wondering if it's worth it!

Message: I'll bet the Dyno operator didn't know what they were doing. I have yet to see a stock R/T hit below 185RWHP. The average is 190-205RWHP (year depending as well as the tune of the engine from the factory).
The 1/4 mile time/et that they posted doesn't make any sense with the HP they showed on the dyno. Something is definitely wrong with the Paxton dyno they used (or at least the operator).

Message: A normal 5.9L will dyno much higher then the truck trend article. Anywhere from 200-270+ with modifications is normal.

Message: There had to be something wrong with either the dyno or the dyno operator. While the Dak R/T showed the worst parasitic loss... the Toyota and Ford showed excessive amounts as well, considering normal is about 15%-20%.
The worst part is that these automotive "journalists" just take it as fact without ever raising an eyebrow! How about a little critical thinking guys?!?!?! :-)
