Message: the 4.7 is a decent engine but if you compare it to the toyota 4.7 or audi 4.2 its a POS

Message: Not a POS. It looks like it may be a long runner just like the 318's. There are not that many people complaining about the engine.
At 100k + them engine cyclinder and bottom ends are looking like new!!!
Now you want to talk about noise, look at the Chevy Piston Slap.

Message: The chevy piston slap did no harm and is now old news the newer 4.8 and 5.3 no longer have that piston slap.

Message: Well like I am saying, not enough people have problems with the Dodge 4.7 to say it is bad at all. I know someone getting over 500 HP out of the stock engine reliably under boost so it can't be all bad.
I'm building a street/strip car right now which will feature the 4.7 since it is ahead of the game compared to the old engines.
I know a guy with a 6.0 Chevy. Said they could never fix the slap. But he says it doesn't harm how it runs. He just hates it slapping at start up.
If I park my truck backed uphill in my driveway and don't drive it for a few days I get noisy lifters that pumped down for a few seconds. Doesn't bother me.

Message: Below the cam lobes - with the OHC design, I think they're called lash adjusters, but act pretty much like lifters.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way
