Subject: 1.7 roller rockers help IP: Logged
Message: i just installed my crower rockers. i went to fire it up only to hear it turning over with no fire. the check engine light and check gauges light is on. i know i did everything right or at least i think so. anyone have any ideas? i check all wires making sure i didn't leave anything unplugged. the only thing i did different from what i have heard others talk about is mashing the baffles down and not removing them. any help would be appreciated.

Message: Sounds like something didn't get hooked back up. Triple check everything. Fuel injectors, spark plug, and coil wires. Check ground wires as well.

Message: Check to see if the ground wire on the rear of the passenger side valve cover is connected. It was hard to see on mine and you may have missed it.

Message: well i found out my problem. somehow i managed to fry my mopar computer. put the stock computer back on and it fired right up. hopefully krc can reflash it for me. only thing i can figure is when i unhooked the big connector off of the fuse box with power on it must have one of them wires feeding the pcm and thats what got it. thats the only thing i can think of that i did wrong.

Message: Glad you got it figured out, but it sucks that it took out your PCM.

Message: Should have unplugged the neg battery terminal first thing. Crud.
What year is your truck? I have a spare '00 stock PCM - 5.9 Dakota, CA. emissions.
(If your mopar PCM is toast, it's toast... I fried one too.)

Message: just ordered a new pcm from john at southeast r/t for 287 shipped. what exactly makes the tappet noise when you install these until they get seated in properly?

Message: it went away after i started it up and shut it off for a few cycles like it said to in the instruction. what causes the tappet noise, the adjustment nut not adjusted down far enough.

Message: Yep...
Mine do it (I think I have a few lifters that are weak) with my .512 lift cam... I've got about 3k on mine after the heads/cam and have adjusted 3 times.. It's not bad, plus my headers are cracked so that's part of noise for me. I'm replacing the lifters with Crower high rpm lifters and will see if that takes care of it.
