I need a full-size, my truck towed it but it wasn't easy.
first problem: the trailer wasn't ready, at the uhaul place
second problem: I drove down a hill to re-align my self up to the vette, and the trailer has this brake setup where as you slow down it puts tention on these springs that apply the brakes to the trailer, well as I was trying to back up the hill the brakes locked up on the trailer and being on sand, I just spun. So we asked the owners if we could use their yard to turn us around so I could drive straight out of their yard.
third Problem: we had a 4' come - a - long that we used to foot by foot this thing up the trailer.
fourth prblem: I have a wieght rating at 6100lbs, so the manual says, the trailer weighed 2,000lbs and the car weighed 3,300 which is 800lbs shy of my weight limit. That really wasn't the problem, it was the fact that it felt like I was pulling 10 times that. The truck had absolutely no go to it. I was steady crusing at 70 mph with the OD off. but I did leave the air on.
fifth problem: it was the hottest day of the year if not it was pretty close at 98 degrease

And the worst of it all.....I forgot to take pics. yea I know, I fubared this time.

But it went ok, that was the first time I had ever pulled anything like that and I didn't cut anybody off, no accedents, the truck did run quite hot in stop and go not to mention the trans had a REAL slow shift while entering the freeway. (It shifts fine now)

Does the 45rfe tend to have longer shifts with a heavy load? or shoul I get it checked out? 13,000 miles

OH Yea,... it was an 85 mile trip too

No offence but you must not tow much. When I hook onto my holiday trailer chevettes pass me. They do need more rear suspention though. I have added Road masters and Timbren load boosters.

No offence taken CW, I posted above "I had ever pulled anything like that" I ment to say never.

other than forgetting to take pics, I think the worst was I had to watch the wheels of the trailer didn't cross the lines.

Yeah a guy has to get used to the fact that it is behind him. I remember being a little jumpy the first time I pulled my holidy trailer. It felt like I was completely blind behind me. I also had to watch not being to close to the lines as well. Damn thing is eight feet wide I think.

To bad on the pics would have liked to see them. :)

this vette was so bad it about had rust on it, you wouldn't want to see pics lol, it would have been cool for my site though.

once off the freeway, we went down a more narrow road, just to keep the trailer from hitting any oncoming cars, the right side of the trailer was in the gravel, that was kind of nerve wrecking watching the thing bounce around.

Remember that our engine and trans. is used in the Dodge Ram and Ram Quad Cab! So engine and trans is not the bigest limiting factor.

Towing is a completely different ball game. When you're towing torque is the only thing that matters. With acceleration it's a power vs. weight deal. But with towing acceleration isn't an issue, it's getting the damned thing moving in the first place at which point vehicle weight isn't too important. Notice that in truck and tractor pulls there is no minimum weight, but there is a maximum. The only time those guys want to shave weight is so they can either re-distribute it or so they can pass tech :)

If you try towing with a diesel you'll see why people want them so bad (even though they tend to be slow when unloaded).

And surge brakes suck, electric brakes are the only way to go

I suggest changing the oil much sooner now. This extra use is going to wear on the oil considerably more.

It sure would be nice if DC would give the Dak a scalled down version of the Cummins in the Ram. I would love a 3.0L to 4.0L 4 cylinder turbodiesel.

I've been using mobil-1 since 6,000 miles which I change every 3,000 even if I don't have to.
Even with the hd service group, towing package and the 5900# GVW, should I have my tranny flushed any time sooner?

Thanks for the info guys

Regarding the diesel, I'd hate to loose the....I was going to say the power but rather the speed of the 4.7L vs. a diesel. But for the same price "roughly", I'd buy one, as long as it could get on the freeway and had some pep.
